Miso soup + rice works wonders together.

I also put half a tablespoon of rice vinegar and mirin into my rice at the very last minute for more taste. Use sushi quality rice, which is readily available at your asian markets. Top with furikake, add good quality soy sauce, not your regual cheap Kikkoman. Kewpie mayo if you're feeling really naughty.
