I quit smoking a few years ago after doing one cigarette a day. Reading up about the health hazards, I figured out it just wasn't worth it.
If there weren't such big implications to your health, I'd go back to it tomorrow. There's nothing quite like sitting outside for a spell, watching the day go by, the rain drop or the stars, and contemplating life while you watch the smoke trail bend and disappear.
Small pleasures like that, it probably gets pretty close to nirvana.

It's becoming an increasingly non-smoker friendly environment, at least in the US. I blame those truth ads on TV, they finally got on the ball and stopped the entire "Cigarettes are scary!" thing and have hip hop music and memes that appeal to kids.
