Do you like these, /jp/?
Looks like a deflated scrotum to me.

It is good, they are pickled plums. Very salty and pickled with shiso leaf.
Here is how they are made.

Dried fichi are way better. No contest.
Getting awful close to >>>/ck/ territory now
Is there a way to eat these outside Japan?
>>14715167
Specialty stores.
They also keep for a long while, that's the whole reason for pickling. You could probably find umeboshi paste more easily.
They taste awful.
>>14715167
Pay your nearest Asian supermarket a visit.
I used to not like them but they've grown on me. Can't find them for a reasonable price where I live though.

Thanks but I will not try, I dislike over-salted product.
I'm more into something like 金柑.

>fruit
>with salt
no
I like them. Salty, sour, sweet. Saves me the trouble of finding something to "counter" the flavor. Everything's already there.

You will understand the deliciousness of umeboshi when you eat it with rice together.
>>14714905
Nope, I prefer red bean paste
Umeboshi go sour by pouring soy sauce on it.
And It is a good accompaniment for sake by sprinkling katsuobushi.
these are good w rice
I've seen them sold in japan as like a 3-pack for some cheap price idk maybe 100 yen and you can eat them on-the-go as a snack or some bullshit
though I wouldn't dream of doing so.
Ugh, no. These are disgusting. First time I tried one I gagged. I can't fathom how people can down those things like they're grapes.
>>14717144
They're Japanese, you must like them.
Speaking of the good partner of rice, it's a raw egg.
>>14719927
Please never forget about me too.
>>14715537
Why wouldn't you try them? They're not just salt, and are eaten in combination with things like rice to make the saltiness more bearable. Might as well try it once, not like it could hurt.
>>14716908
Are you a girl? You write like one.
>>14719927
Aren't these meant to be eaten together with really hot rice?
>>14715580
Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, etc are all fruits.
That looks like some kind of vagina ball
>>14721286
That is often eaten for breakfast in Japan.
It put soy sauce on and stir up and mix a raw egg and rice.
I prefer these but there are no recipes.

Package of deflated cancer

look yum

small plum in salted water, kept pressed in a big pot and stored for a long time
the longer theyre kept the more deflated they are
add chilly powder or chopped ginger if desired
takes 3 months to achieve the degree of deflation pictured, though the chinese confectionnery industry can achieve it in one day
which is why its not healthy to eat those things regularly
also after about a month the liquid makes for great salty and sour juice, though an acquired taste, so if you want to store it separately to drink you can replce it with fresh salted eater
>>14714905
I loved pretty much every new food I tried in Japan except for these shits. These taste like butthole. I had one on some shitty conbini rice and I had to eat around it and all the rice it came in direct contact with because it tasted so bad.
>>14728909
Indeed. That why your own salted plums should be better.
>>14729406
Thank you.
>>14731352
actually scratch that, they're instructions for making plum juice, I got them mixed up.
salted plums:
1. one layer of plums under one layer of salt under one layer of plums, etc, kept in a jar
2. after 3 days pour everything on a flat surface to dry under sunlight for one day, then repeat step 1
3. repeat step 1 and 2 for about 3 times until a thick layer of salt starts to bind on the plums
