Did the /jp/ gaijin who visited the bathhouses ever come back to post his experiences? Or did the mob kill him? This was posted back in summer 2012, I think?

More images from his original thread. Also, is that Otakon guy with the quickly constructed touhou head still around? Met you in a line. Good speaking with you and your friend. I think you were worm or something.

What's different between now and then? From 2012, all I really remember from glancing at the catalog were endless touhou threads, an occasional tea/food thread, and a few specific band/idol-group threads.

Any difference now? Or has it stagnated?
>>
Did anybody on /jp/ ever try 混浴 in Japan?

Yes he did, like a year ago. Check the archive

Stagnation and time, mostly.

I went to one a couple of months ago while I was out there.
Really lax atmosphere but I'd rather stick to my hotel shower area/bath tub combo

Ahhh. Still surprised people are so interested in Touhou. Guess it didn't get old? Or is there a constant influx of new fans replacing the retired one?
>>
>>14714023
Yeah? Did you have to seek out a gaijin-ok advertised place or did it not bother? Unless you blend in with the locals?
>>
>>14713970
The "old /jp/" you remember is just the few good threads we had between an endless torrent of shit. In reality, things haven't changed at all.
>>
>>14714085
The crossboard memes change. THAT'S IT.

Also there used to be more neet threads.

Funny you don't remember all the retarded spam, though.

I'm not sure if we're supposed to talk about soaplands now or just complain that /jp/ isn't the same as X years ago.
>>

Crossboarders killed it.

I can't say I didn't enjoy the NEET threads back then but honestly, they were just a place for people to wallow in self-pity (myself included). Nothing good comes out of shit like that.

Tokiko and friends? I remember there being a lot of different spammer personalities but I can't recall any of them.

The entire board is filled to the brim with even more general threads. Back then, /jp/ was more ephemeral: people created threads about topics that interested them and were related to the board, and thus conversation would ensue. Now, most of the board's discussion and movement happens in generals. Also, you seem to be ignoring the fact that for many months throughout 2012, the board was flooded to the brim with shitposting and spam. Sometimes you would wake up and see 7 pages deleted (back when the board was made up of 15 pages). Now, this never happens. Mostly because both the tripfags, the old janitors, the shitposters, and the people who cared about the board's culture (be it the "neo" or "old" culture).

... Do you just wanna know about onsen? because I've been in five of them..

The first time was horrible, I didn't like having to be naked with a bunch of old dudes staring right at my cock to see if it is true about westerners. It was awkward and I felt everyone watching my every move.

The second time was better, less people and I was able to just copy a few people to get the cleaning pattern down. The water was so hot I burned the bottom of my feet.

Third time was great, noone but me and three kids who spent the whole time trying to float face down.

Fourth time was so full I felt like there was no water, just old ballsacks and elbows.

Five time was mixed sex, a few girls, but mostly old ladies and old men. Noone looked at each other. I ended up getting a boner because one girl had no shame... I could not leave the water until she was gone. I was as red as the Japanese flag.

It's not about shitposters. It's about /jp/ looking like /s4s/.

I blame the archives for half it, the other half is the shitposting spam.

It was easier to keep a single thread alive with many posters in it through large waves of spam than it was for each individual person to desperately bump their own thread until a janitor woke up.

Now everybody is so used to getting all their info from a single source and reading through the archives for any extra info they need, the only thing left to do is circlejerk in a "general". Its sort of a good thing, the pastebin turbo-autism links in OPs cut down on stupid newbie questions but limits a lot of creative potential.

And honestly calling "generals" the boogeyman is kind of dumb, when really it would be the exact same thread with or without that specific word in the title. Everybody wants to gather in the same place to talk about a thing, not have to search through multiple threads for the same conversation.

I'm not really a fan of nasuverse-related things, but their threads looked fun.

In 2012? Ha ha ha, no.

>>14716312
Archives, catalog, threads being purged by date of last post and progressively higher bump limits. Every change to how 4chan operates made generals inevitable.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've gone a few times, just private ones though

I think the big open ones would be unlikely to have cute girls... unless you bring your own

Onsens are really great. The water is always too hot for me though. I start feeling nauseated pretty soon as I dip in.

This is one I took a photo of, in Beppu-Oita, last fall.

Old /jp/ would have told OP to fuck off with the 3D shit and random Japland images.

No not really. Actual old /jp/ (not 2012 neo /jp/) would say "this isn't japan/general, >>>/int/ " .

It was four years ago, and the first wave of 2012ers are now closer to /jp/'s founding than they are to the present.

Time flies when you're shitposting.

It was around +28-30C and really humid, late summer breaking into fall. And yeah, they're probably amazing during winter.
