For a technical explanation about how to capture:
When the laser forms, it does not have a collision box. The collision box starts where you were when the laser spawned which means to dodge the laser, you have to move towards it by at least as much as the laser is wide or you will get hit.
The video linked in >>14686130 illustrates that quite well but you can also do it at the bottom and then it's much much easier. What that video does up there isn't something you have to care for. Once you get the idea, the spell is very easy.
