Aimlessly walking around Tokyo is one of life's greatest pleasure.;_;

I love the cloudy overcast skies. I take them over sunny days any time. Who's with me?
>>14666672
Yeah I agree. It's the same reason I really want to move to Washington (Seattle).
>>14666684
As a Washingtonian, I hope you REALLY like it.
Seconding the other Washingtonian anon, have fun here, land of coffee and rain
I can post basically a 360' from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building if anyone's interested.
>>14666901

>>14662830
Well I really miss just walking around tokyo with no real destination.
No other city comes to my mind that feels so comfy and safe.
>>14669049
I always wondered, how much do randoseru cost? I can't find any sort of official source for them with my limited japanese. It seems like they would either have to be shit quality, or ludicrously expensive.
>>14669113
http://ranking.rakuten.co.jp/daily/301055/
I just randomly googled. So I'm not sure if this is an accurate reflection.
I was waiting for this thread.
Post more images, dudes.
>>14669113
popular price range is 250-350 dollars
its expensive since randoseru is supposed to be used for 6 years long during elementary school
im a japanese so i know it
>>14669663
Is this Nagasaki?
>>14669652
Thanks for this image. It hit me in the feels.
>>14666672
I am with you dude
You are so right. I've spent months just walking aimlessly around Tokyo. There's never a lack of things to see.
>>14671361
Any particular place that you would recommend? I would love to get some new places to go in Tokyo. I've usually wandered around Saitama and the north mostly since that's where I've stayed, but anything works.
I usually go to points of interest and get lost around them. I don't even try, my sense of direction is horrible and I never go the same way twice so I never backtrack. You get to see more that way. Lots of walking. Good exercise.
>>14674326
>>14674330

These look really Steampunk.
>>14674466
You mean cyberpunk?
>>14674320
>mirror edge level
>>14674476
No, steampunk.
There are pipes that let out steam.
Wahhhh! Too much feels please stop kind sir. Feels like nostalgia but I've never gone to Japan. Wahhhh! Me me go Japan please!
>>14674733
Ufff. There actually is a place like this in the world. And I haven't seen it yet. Please glorious Japan help me in visiting it.
>>14674751
Nice photo, dude.
>>14674873

Now this is what I call comfy.

Feels like nostalgia for a place i've never been.
>>14675645
Steampunk.

No.
>>14675645
Dystopian. Like Akira or something

If this was a splinter cell map or something, you'd have to get in the building through that little cave in the cliff..

How is that possible?
>>14675029
>>14674927
A place as beautiful as that picture actually exists in this world.
>>14675674
I thought I was the only one. It's exactly how I feel.
>>14674688
I don't think Steampunk means what you think it means.
Dear Landscape Anons
If I wanted to purchase a digital camera so I can take my own comfy photos while in Japan, which camera would you recommend? I'll use it for figurine close-up pictures too.
Looking to spend around $300-$500
>>14677507
I don't know much on cameras but what ever you decide on you might be able to get cheaper in Tokyo. In one of the tax free shops.
>>14677002
I'm sure its just the angle, anon.
>>14670198
Mine too. I wish I had a cool beautiful place like that to play football during my childhood.
>>14678930
>play football during my childhood
Its overrated.
>>14669652
Skateboarding must not exist in Japan. That looks like prefect flatground.
>>14677507
Do you particularly care about how crisp the resolution is?
No: Used entry-level DSLR with 18-55mm lens, Canon Powershot
Yes: Be prepared to spend more than $500 (unless you get a really good bargain in Japan) and be prepared to do some research. It really depends on the lens. Never ever listen to /p/
>>14679028
.....I meant perfect, not prefect.
>>14669049
dude, i feel you. its the best. i miss being there soo much
>>14675735
It isn't that.
>>14669049
Gosh, I think it will be a perfect fit for me, is it exclusively Tokyo or is it the same everywhere in Japan?
>>14677507
Anything that isn't DSLR level is actually inferior to modern phone cameras nowadays, or at least so similar that there's no point buying a camera separately. The best you could try to do is try find a 2nd hand DSLR that comes with some lenses, you might be able to find older model crop sensors for that price.
Gonna post pictures from various time periods.
Can someone explain what it is like to walk around aimlessly in Tokyo? Why is it so wonderful?

Dear god.
>>14679987
I would've loved to walk around aimlessly in Tokyo, but family was around.
But even walking with them, I could feel it.
It's kind of like an urban fantasy. There are signs you can't read, people who look different, and the bustle that brings the city to life.
But in all that sweet noise, it's so easy to just sink into. Like you become the camera in a film exploring the sights of the busy capital of Japan, Like your own physical self doesn't matter, left simply absorbing the experience.
You can tune yourself out of the world and passively listen to everything around you, and at the same time you can block everything outside and listen to the silence in yourself.
But that's just me.
>>14680387
Thank you so much for sharing these, anon.
Does anyone have any photos of Japan between 1910s-1950s? I have a small collection of photos of Japan from the late 1800s and now photos from 1960s-now, and I'd be interested in seeing what it was like during the periods I'm missing.
>>14680316
Where's this? Maximum comfy in that neighbourhood bit
>>14681491
Karatsu, Saga, Kyushu.
>>14681344
Usually when I walk large distances I end up tired or my feet start hurting, but during my two times in Tokyo I didn't feel anything like that, just my adventurous spirit.
Even in Rome, my second favorite city, which I've also tracked through on several occasions and entirely by foot, I would end up exhausted by the end.
>>14681344
Thanks for the insight. Liked reading it. But these stories, feels and pictures always make me sad. Sad about my chances of going and living my dream.
>>14679987
I wish I knew. I never went and I always look at my Tokyo wallpapers to make me feel happy. From all the people who went. They say it truly is a special place.
I want to walk around forests and run into demon beasts, only to be saved by a hot head swordsman. I will follow this colored haired swordsman through many journeys.
>>14675645
>>14675735
A low form of cyberpunk perhaps.
>>14669683
I seriously can't tell. Is this a drawing or a photo?
>>14682964
seems like an obvious photo to me
>>14675674
Pretty sure there's a term for that.
>>14684183
It seems to me it's either nostalgia for an imagination, probably for ideal life, or a nostalgia for a feeling that the image evokes. Or a bit of both, we experience reality colored by our attitudes, and most of our memories are probably false.

Pretty much this. But actually you miss the smell, the sun, noises from all directions, etc. Watching this brings back memories but it is not nearly as cool as in real.
I really like how Japanese people aren't assholes who litter. It makes cities here look like a third world country by comparison.
>>14688637
I tried to not litter for the longest time, despite my city looking like shit with trash thrown all over the place
Eventually, I gave in. Just throw everything to the ground when I'm done with it. Just last night I threw a pop can and some tissues on the concrete despite there being a trash receptacle less than 2m away. I don't care anymore. I wonder what that means, if anything. It makes me feel weird because even if I littered in Japan, I am just one person and it would still be ultra clean.

You're human trash.

It looks too small to be the Arakawa river.
Probably Sumida or Tama.
It looks like it might be around Futakotamagawa or Tamagawa station.
