ITT: We list new VSRGs

All of the decent ones are fucking old that i know of
>>
my local arcade recently got neon fm its pretty good m8 but i wouldve preferred pop'n given that a fucking neon fm machine costs like 7k
>>
>>14646910
Still waiting on mobile release-
>>
So, I got a P1 beatmania controller, but I don't know where to place my hands. The way I do it is left thumb index and middle finger for 1 2 and 3, and pinky for turntable, and then my entire hand for 4, 5, 6 and 7.
>>
>>14646978
That's 1048 style, you just need wrist scratching and then you're doing what 90% of Insane BMS players do. It works, but you'll need to learn a second form if you ever want to play truly scratch heavy songs.
>>
Regarding the current topic: What kind of features you guys are expecting from new VSRGs the older ones don't provide? I'm currently developing one for playing 5k/7k/9k BMSes as a hobby project, not sure when or if I'm going to announce it and open source it anytime soon.
>>
>>14647122
Not crashing every second song.
>>
>>14647122
Personally I just want a UI I can tear apart however I feel like. Something with both IIDX's UI and playfield tuning, and LR2's sheer skinnability.
>>
>>14647122
I've always wanted to see a graph similar to the performance chart in IIDX but for timing, that would show at what parts during the song you hit more Greats or Goods, or display your average fast/slow rate.
As for actual features, something like K-Shoot Mania's "Input Gate" for downloading charts from within the client would be very convenient.

I actually play osumania quite a bit just because I love making new skins for it
>>
>>14647122
lol good luck
>>
o!m isnt even that bad as a game itself the timing is good it has a nice chat client and rankings and alot of skinning options and you can change the hitposition on your skin to what youd like. the charts are a different issue but there are alot of good charts
>>
Is this the right place to ask which phone model is the best for playing rhythm mobage?

My Samsung Note 2 served my needs well for a few years but some mobage (ones with recording features like SB69 especially) seem to hate it.
>>

https://youtu.be/ViA_hkn7lNE
>>
>>14649237
that's literally not even a ranked map
>>
>>14649265
That's literally not even the point. The point is how trivial o!m is.
That's a insane 2 chart, which is NOT supposed to be easy. I have a 98% on o!m, yet can't clear it at all on lr2.
>>
>>14649269
it's also an 8k song converted to 7k with no tweaks made to compensate for the difference between games
o!m is awful but that video's just weak
>>
>>14649339
No, you don't get it. While the scratch does make it harder, that's not the main reason of it being more difficult on lr2. The difficulty of that chart is in accurately hitting the chords without hitting the other keys. They aren't exactly comfortable to play.
LR2 forces you to be accurate, o!m doesn't. Therefore, o!m is shit.

>>
>>14649448
I thought gold was a pretty stable element, so LR2 can't be gold, because it crashes every 2 minutes
>>
What are some good PC rhythm games to play besides LR2?

DJMax Portable series on a PSP emulator
>>
What kind of shoes are good to use for playing Stepmania on a hard pad? Ive been using some old sneakers but since ive started moving up from Standard to Heavy mode my feet feel like their about to split apart and hurt like hell when im playing lately.
>>
>>14650079
I'd sooner recommend DJMax Portable series on an actual PSP with CFW, it's a much better experience IMO. The only downside is that if you want to use the Random modifier on anything above 6B you might run into problems because it's physically impossible to hit notes 1 and 3 at the same time on the d-pad
>>
>>14650118
When I went up in diff like you, my feet used to hurt a lot but after 2-3 weeks of playing every other day, my body adapted and it stopped hurting. Nothing to do with shoes. Somehow, I'm a bit jealous of you, because I was playing mainly to do a bit of exercise, but now almost nothing makes me sweat except really the most difficult songs (and I usually don't like the melody of those).
>>
>>14650161
Funny because the exercise is the main reason i got back into Stepmania after many years. I never had my feet killing me like this though. I guess my age caught up with me and gonna have to tough it out.

Have you tried any of the R7 pad packs? Their well written charts with decent variety IMO.
>>
>>14650234
Piece of cake
>>
>>14650234
Do you have flat feet? I do and sometimes I get momentarily that "split apart" feeling when I'm not wearing shoes with a sole that follows the shape of a normal foot. Sneakers are the worst for me because the sole is usually totally flat.
>>
>>14650286
Nope. Normal feet. But yeah the soles of my sneakers are flat and kinda thin.

Do you use running shoes instead or something?
>>
>>14650337
Yeah. The exterior is almost flat but the interior fits the shape of normal foot. A bit like the pic.
>>
>>14650044
There's literally no rhythm games that aren't clones of arcade games or use the same concept.

>>
>>14650378
I think i'll try shoes like that than. The thicker soles should in any case make jump heavy charts feel less like torture since im not using a bar to lessen the impact.
>>
>>14650389
osu! is not one of those but it's got the same concept as the console game instead.
In any case, if there is no PC rhythm game with its own concept, it's a shame. Why doesn't somebody make something with a gameplay exclusively adapted for PC?

On PC you have the keyboard which allows the same gameplay as some existing arcade games i.e. not unique. And mouse is just utter shit for anything rhythm related

Do you guys use CRT monitors for data to get less input lag and more arcade accurate display?
What kind of monitor should i buy for IIDX
>>
>>14651028
I'm still using the same 1280x1024 monitor that came with my computer a decade ago.

I think any monitor is fine really. If you're going to buy a TV, don't get the $100 ones because they have massive amounts of lag.
>>
>>14651028
If you want an LCD go get a Samsung UN32J4000, it's got the smallest amount of lag you'll get from a commercial TV, you can find it for around $150 and it's 32" supporting resolutions up to 1920x1080, so you can run all AC data on fullscreen without any black borders.
>>
>>14651028
>Do you guys use CRT monitors for data to get less input lag and more arcade accurate display?
I don't know why people think arcade IIDX is a lagless experience. Real arcade machines are incredibly laggy. Your average home setup with a garbage monitor and triple buffering is probably just as good.
>>
>>14651028
I use a CRT for pop'n because it my CRT looks nicer than my laptop screen, i think it makes pop'n extra comfy as well

>>

They're all 720 except for Reflec Beat, but you'd need another monitor for that anyways.
>>

6k confuses me, my brain uses the key in the middle of everything to know which lane is which, so playing 6k makes me completely lose track of that.

I don't understand how people can regularly play pop'n without like, injuring the tendons in their hands or at least being in a lot of constant pain

It doesn't feel possible to play anything above like a 32 without hitting the buttons really hard just because of fast you have to transition around
>>
>>14654334
You're not slamming your fucking flailing arms on to the buttons, if you played IIDX just by slamming the keys it would hurt like hell too.
>>
>>14654370
A lot of people do "slam the keys" in IIDX to get louder keytaps and keep up with timing better, it doesn't hurt because your hands are always in position to directly hit the buttons and the amount of force needed to register a press is a hot lower
>>
>>14651318
You probably know this but check if your TV has a Game Mode and that it's turned on.

>>14654096
There used to be a png guide, don't know when it was last updated though. TL;DR, anything not Bemani or mobage is probably really difficult to get a hold of. Anything that is Bemani is best played with a controller.

For DDR just use Stepmania and download the DDR packs for it. An old arcade pad is ideal but Precision Dance Pads is decent.

>>

For some original packs check out the R7 ones.
http://breakartz.net/r7mix/

If you want Vocaloid and Touhou packs look for them on Gpop's Youtube channel(dont think he has a site):
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnblSFoFx8-3OWPjMGoHWoA

Theres also the Vocalosteps pack. Sadly i think they stopped updating it though.
http://vocalosteps.a-zeroproduce.net/

As for the original DDR songs you can find them on:
https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/simfiles.php

Also if you think the default SM5 theme is ugly as fuck like i do check out Cyberia style. Its kinda love it or hate though.
http://cyberiastyle.skr.jp/

As for pads. The Positive Gaming softpads are good for what they are but if you want to get more serious consider saving up for a Precision Dancepad. Whatever you do, DO NOT waste money on a DDR Game pad. their trash.

>>
As someone who plays quite a bit of classic 5-key Beatmania, I must ask: why are the files for IIDX (even older styles) so secretively locked away in private trackers?
>>
>>14659218
everything older than tricoro is way more sensitive with regards to hardware and desyncs a lot more easily, which combined with the lack of new songs means people just don't care about it
for newer stuff, it's a common misconception that people keep it secret just for the sake of having sows as some sort of elite secret club, but the fact is that all of the restrictions were put into place for the sole reason of protecting the data sources

I managed to fix it... somehow.
I plugged in the controller to a USB 3 port in the back of my PC that supports power even when the computer is off. Maybe the controller hub wasn't receiving enough power?

What the fuck are you doing. Stop downloading shit that will never earn you upload like Empress ISO and BMS files you could get elsewhere. You have one month to raise your ratio to 0.4 or you'll get banned you know?

Can I get in trouble for inviting an afghan who doesn't know what he's doing?
>>
>>14661183

>he fell for the inviting people meme
>>
>>14661183
You can report him, get a warn but at least they don't ban you, that happened me once, and I'm still on sows, sometimes people are fucking dunces.
>>
>>14661206
Done. He's not even seeding any torrent, looks like he's only leeching and downloading whatever the fuck he wants. How you can you be such a fuckhead, afghan guy?
>>
>>14661227
That's why you only invite people that makes effort when drawing cindy, people that cum on a pic of mayumi are retarded.
>>
>>14661159
So how does it work now? I actually just got my PS2/USB adapter yesterday and it worked like you said with the x-axis thing, but I was able to configure bemanitools for it.
and while we're on the topic, does anyone know how to overclock the usb polling rate on windows 10?
>>
Hi, it's >>14661126, again. The controller works fine but sometimes when playing in the middle of a song, some buttons will stop registering completely, causing me to fail it.

It's really intermittent so it's hard to tell because it'll sometimes work.

I'm just going to buy another adapter and give it another try. Maybe the one I bought is just bad.

The controller itself is new.
>>14661280
It seems to work just fine (when it does work, if that happens to make sense.)
>>
>>14661348
>>14661280

key 7 registering as X axis is intended behavior, and is how the controller functions when plugged into an actual PS2. Bemanitools will work perfectly fine.

About your adapter, if it's the shitty blue one try the other port. Mine had a loose connection on one port that only got worse with use (had to jiggle the cables into a sweet spot to get a connection). Otherwise yes just buy another.
>>
>>14661348
by "how does it work" i meant more like "does button 7 actually correspond to a button instead of x-axis"

if you're looking for another adapter there's this one some guy recommended on sows
http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/172054918580
i've only used it once but it worked really well, and apparently it's lag-free once you boost the polling rate on your pc, but i haven't figured that out yet
>>
>>14661183
You suck at choosing people, the one guy i invited got more than double the amount of upload i have right now in his first two weeks of being in sows.
>>
>>14661227
>>14661183
This is why they send me an email I always ask if they've been on other private trackers and to show me their ratio.

If they never been on another private tracker I don't want to trust that guy anyways. It can be something as dumb as animebytes. Don't let yourself get fucked over by leechers.

Also if they're begging for an invite or asking for HDD leaks in the thread, that's a red flag of someone you don't want to associate with anyways
>>
>>14661430
>Animebites

>oh hey registrations are open
>have to fill out a fucking questionnaire like im applying for a goddamn job
>hahaha no

Elitism like that is why i fucking hate most private trackers.
Is there even anything worthwhile on there that you cant find on Nyaa or Boxtorrents?
>>
>>14661692
Probably, I just went there for Ever 17, this was at the time it wasn't reuploaded everywhere and the company that made it went down. I haven't downloaded anything for years and I only log in every few months so my account doesn't get auto banned.

>Fill out the questionnaire
I've never heard of anyone who failed it, if you put any amount of effort into it. It's just a matter of seeing who is willing to fill it out. I put Naruto as one of my 5 favorite animes.

Coincidentally I got a dirty android album from there. That was a nice snatch.
>>
>>14661705
The questionnaire just rubbed me the wrong way. And asking people to link their profiles from other trackers.... Just no.

>>
>>14663477
I've given invites out here a few times, I've never had any go sour. I just like to talk to the people a bit outside /jp/, ask them a bunch about rhythm games and how they got into them, just get to know them as a person and that's usually enough to know someone won't be stupid with their ratio.

I love rhythm games and I love helping new people get into them, I don't understand how people can be so elitist
>>
Can someone recommend me a good keyboard for rhythm games, mostly 4k and 6k? My current one is pretty bad and was hoping to upgrade.
>>
>>14663841
Anything mech keyboard tends to feel pretty nice. The switch type doesn't matter, whatever you like for other stuff.
Specifics beyond that won't really change anything
>>
>>14661227
I didn't know what I was getting into, ban me if you need too, I just don't want to fuck up the community any more. Sorry, I'm fucking illiterate when it comes to torrents and stuff, I just thought it was a place to get Bemani shit, wasn't really sure what Sows was all about. Thank you for giving me a shot and I'm sorry I fucked everything up, if this means anything here.

I'm just trying to get into IIDX and its so hard to get all the shit I need to. I kept hearing that sows was the place to be in for bemani shit but wasn't really sure what it was all about. I don't know how to torrent and how to deal with that kind of shit so kick me out so I don't fuck up the community. I don't want to harm the rhythm game community at all.

>>
if you guys hate osu because it cares about combo then why do iidx players care about fc's?
checkmate bemanifags
>>
>>14664545
Whose?
>>
I don't feel so bad about playing IIDX anymore knowing some of these new songs.

I last played Pendual when it was new in Japan and it was good but I haven't played any IIDX since.

Sometimes I play old IIDX (RED and older but usually not even newer than 5th or 6th, 4th is my most played) but I haven't done that lately, because it just makes me really nostalgic for when those games were new, and the nostalgia leads to me getting ridiculously depressed and I usually end up doing a bunch of drugs and blacking out, so I've been avoiding rhythm games with older songs. Kinda sucks because those songs were my favorite ones.
>>
>>14664545

bemani players stopped caring about FC after you could get a Good and your combo kept going

i actually remember being very angry the first time this happened to me on DDR X or whatever it started on

Is it possible to keep a good ratio with a shitty internet connection?
I've never been on a private tracker.
>>
>>14665348
Yes, just be patient, download either freeleech or really small files when you begin, don't go for gigabytes of download when you begin and you'll be fine, just have a slow start.

My internet is crap and i can keep a ratio of 2.4 without issues.
>>
>>14665348
seedbox
>>
>>14664545
obvious bait but fuckit i want to hash this out

In IIDX, an FC is one of several milestones towards mastery of a chart, starting from A rank and generally ending at all Greats/PGreats - where an FC lies on that road is debatable. Hitting any milestone is cause for celebration, and it's ok if you don't hit the later milestones on a chart until you come back to it later. All milestones result in better rankings by extension, but rankings don't even matter that much on offocial e-amuse because they get wiped every year anyways. This all leads to a situation where the only person who can judge your skill accurately is yourself, so it's perfectly fine to improve at your own pace because no one would ever fucking know.

In Osu there are also multiple milestones, but an FC is the first significant one by a huge margin, and is considered the "first" due to the huge pp boost in comparison to an A rank. SS is cool too, but it doesn't bring as large of a pp increase. So you end up with a community that thinks "FC or quit," which is not a healthy mindset for anyone involved.
To peppy's credit, he's downplaying the importance of combo with ppv2, but the huge rankings circlejerk still remains. It's far better to judge oneself by "I A-ranked this beatmap I was struggling on," than by "I gained 1000 rank by pp farming anime OPs all night."
>>
>>14665726
>So you end up with a community that thinks "FC or quit,"

I mean, the scoring system is the direct cause of that.
It's been discussed to death, no one enjoys grinding plays until you get no misses and keeping accuracy as an afterthought.
>>
>>14665741
Lots of osu players prefer the way it is.
>>
>>14665754

Lot's of osu players like playing osu too so
>>
>>14663959
>3.95 on cabinet

But 3.95 doesn't have as many features as oITG or SM5. OpenITG is the best suited for cabinets, at least until SM5 gets better USB support.

Unless you don't care about USB profile saving and all that stuff.
>>
>>14665772
Well, I do think it's a great game. It's a lot of fun. Too bad the score system is literal shit.
>>

This >>14661430 anon again. It is not a matter of elitism but just safety. A lot of people are greedy and if they fuck up on sows I lose my account, I don't want to risk that.

It's not elitism to ask for proof that they can be on trackers without being a huge cunt like >>14661183 . I've added 9 anons from this thread already.

>>14665348
Yes, even if you're seeding kb/s as long as you're seeding you can get points which you can turn in for more ratio. Not to mention the tons of freeleach stuff.

Alternatively if your internet is really that shitty or you don't want to seed 24/7 just buy a seedbox if you have the extra funds. The average seedbox is like $10-15 a month.

I used feral hosting if you are looking for a suggestion.

Also by lurking on these threads I learned why it's not that easy to get into sows and the reason they remain private (and why they don't even like screenshots outside there).
It's risky to invite people without knowing them, like the one in >>14661183

K-shoot is extremely easy to set up, just download, extract and you're ready to go, the game has the input gate which lets you download songs that you could say are "official" or you can otherwise just download them from elsewhere and put them into the songs folder.

You can only use one mouse with Kshoot afaik though, but you can bind each of the lasers to two keys for left and right turns.
