Do you think ZUN gets help when drawing stage backgrounds? Some of them are very nice looking, you'd think for a person that draws anatomically deformed girls would have serious trouble designing something like DDC's stage 5.
Or maybe he's like a modern painter and he actually knows how to draw but decides to draw unrealistically anyway?
My man, it's just textured 3D. He probably uses stock images.

I also forgot to mention how in TD he shows he's capable of coloring digitally and giving sleek traits and yet in the other games he goes back to a more rough style

Some people are talented at making patterns and symmetrical designs but can't draw a person without making them stiff or lumpy. It's possible ZUN is one of these people?

No he doesn't. Also, I'd like to say ZUN's drawings are adorable.
In his interview, he says that he purposefully avoids drawing like the professionals do, because it'll lose its charm if it's something that's been done a thousand times over already, i.e. the generic anime characters/style.
Look at this. This is the face of a man who loves what he does.

At the very least, I do, ZUN. Please don't give up your adorable drawings. I want Touhou to live through you.

His watercolor looking art is really charming, I wish he would make more like he used to.
I'd post one of EoSD endings if there was no taboo because the endings of the early games were very cute with that coloring style.
