lets talk cat cafes, have you been in one? how was it? whats your favorite one? do you regularly go there?
>>
>>14414539
They look like the Japanese equivalent of tumblrshit.
>>
Yes I visited one because the tourist guide said "I JUST HAVE TO DO IT, OMG."

If you ever seen that furry foam video, it sums up the feel of a fucking cat cafe.
>>
>>14414539
One opened up in Toronto recently but I already have a 2 cats so not much reason to go. I hope it doesn't get closed down after a few months like the maid cafe did.
>>
>>14414869
The only themed cafes we have in the U.S. are located in California. Everything else is Starbucks.
The struggle.

It seems to be doing well. I went 4 days ago and all of the original cats that were at the opening were adopted.
Pic related, this is Tilly.
>>
What is a cat cafe? Is it a cafe for cats?
I thought only Amerifats did this.
>>
>>14414936
It's a café where you can play with cats.
>>
>>14414936
Japanese are lonelyand many can't keep animals because of apartment rules. Cats and dogs are proven to reduce stress. These aspects are some that make this concept work. I do think that it should be limited to domesticated animals.
>>
>>14414962
>Proven to reduce stress
For specific people.
For most people it actually increases stress.
>>
>>14414869
Let's go there once anon
>>
>>14414962
I fail to see how having animals running around while you're trying to eat is supposed to calm you down but who am I to question cat autists.
>>
>>14415005
Cats spend almost the entire day sleeping and looking cute, and only want a bit of your attention for a few minutes per day. You're the one that looks like an autist to me.
>>
>>14415005
people go there to pet the cats, you autist
if they just wanted to eat, they would go somewhere else
>>
>>14414982
/jp/ meetup? Lets all wear dog shirts when we go.

>have you been in one?
Yes
>how was it?
Kind of awkward, I own a cat myself and getting all kinds of rules as to how to interact with them felt kind of unnatural. They asked me to not pick them up and stuff. Maybe I'm just a cruel asshole in terms of how I normally handle my cat, but she doesn't seem to mind too much. Honestly, I had more fun watching the girls try to get cats to interact with them and their boyfriends awkwardly sitting around taking pictures, unsure where to place themselves.
>whats your favorite one?
I only went to the one on the extension of the bridge near Kanda post office, in Akiba.
>>
I live in a house with three cats, so every day is a cat cafe!
>>
My cat sometimes tries to dip her paw in my coffee.
>>
>>14416479
What other rules are there?
>>
>>14416911
I read that as
>rulers
like three times, thinking it referred to her majesty up there in the image.
There were toys on long elastic sticks, you know the kind, that you could use to try and attempt to get the cats to actually do something. The rule was, though, that if they manage to grab it you have to let go and let them drop it again for whatever reason. I personally enjoy teasing my cat with little tugging matches, so that was very unintuitive. Mice normally still try to escape once a cat has grabbed it, anyway, so it seems unnatural to just give up the second they grab something.
You also had to clean your hands with alcohol right after you enter, which makes sense considering how many people touch the cats, but it still gets in the way of the homely mood they're trying to create.

for the first rule you listed, it's to prevent injury to yourself and the cat

nobody likes lawsuits

second rule is because lots of people are germaphobes and having patrons wash their hands with alcohol eliminates the stress

if i went in a catcafe that's the minimum rules i'd expect, i want to be a good patron and be surrounded by cats and just squat down and pet one or two

everyone has dirty hands so they need to wash before touching
>>
>>14416974
Yeah, it's not like I don't get why they're in place, it's just that they kind of ruin the concept for me.
>>
>>14416987
don't even step inside then, just pet your own cat

Oh yeah, cats climbing over everything is much cleaner. Especially Toxoplasmosis.

>>14414962
Japs are retarded.
Some anon talked about selling a house. It was big and in a rural area, and apaprently many are left to rot there. Japanese people would rather live in cramped little apartments close to work, instead of living a comfy life in rural areas, maybe hunting for food if you have certain animals in your area.

If I wasnt a neet, I would totally be saving for a rural house and trying to live off the grid. Obviously I need money for the internet, but urba areas are shit, and I could grow my won food/hunt/forage to cover cost of internet.

I will never understand Japanese people. But maybe I'm biased as cities make me anxious due to crowds. Back on topic I wouldnt go.
I fucking hate cats, this doesnt sound hygenic and it just sounds awkward. Would rather stay at home with my dog.
>>
>>14417014
>don't even step inside then, just pet your own cat

sums up the whole cat cafe experience
it's so diluted that you're just better off visiting a neighbor with a pet cat
>>
>>14417060
or just visiting the strays in the park

But I don't have a fat cat. I only have 1 grey and white one.
>>
>>14417059
It's not that the cats are dirty from being cats, but that cats get "dirty" from being petted by people who don't wash their hands.
>>
>>14417077
those are not mutually exclusive

I've been to one. The cats were all very calm, and it was neat seeing all of their personalities come out as I interacted with them.

10/10 would go again
>>
>>14417084
Both are unhygenic.
>>
>>14417106
Not as unhygienic as not washing your hands.
>>
>>14417059
>But maybe I'm biased as cities make me anxious due to crowds
Yes, that's exactly it. Cities are much more convenient in every single way unless you can't handle them.
>>
>>14417159
Cities are boring and soulless.
Rural is better.
>>
>>14417240
The area you live in doesn't stay interesting no matter where you are. You'll get used to it and it'll lose its wonder. Eventually you'll sit in front of your computer and want to have dinner without having to drive for an hour.
