Both of the times I've been to Canada I went to Ontario, and it was actually unnerving, well within the uncanny valley. It was almost America, pretty much any place in the Midwest, and the only differences one could casually see were the metric road signs and the plastic money.

I went to Niagara Falls the first time and Windsor the second time. Saw a fort at Windsor, was pretty cool.
Actually, you could go into Canada without a passport before 9/11, and even today you don't need the full passport, just a passport card.
