http://www.economist.com/news/europe/21702232-why-gdp-growth-26-year-mad-not-full-shilling

They literally had 26% GDP growth in 2015.

Economists all around the world are like WTF.

This is what happens when Apple moves all its money to your country for financial reasons, yet doesn't move any jobs or production there.

Your government gets a 5% profit tax rate, but literally no domestic production.

It is a tax haven.

Most economists put its GDP growth at 5.5% in 2015. GDP per capita is about $50,000 (which is still rich).

Yep.

Watch what happens when the world economy has another 2009.

Ireland had to default, get a huge EU bailout, an IMF bailout, GDP dropped 20% in three years, and 23% of Ireland was unemployed.

Competitive business tax rates are bullshit. There should be a Western or EU standard at 20%. But that'll never happen.

1Q was 4.2% growth with zero inflation

next year central bank will stop devalation of our currency and the wages in euros will jump by 10%

so cca 20% in 2 years

idk the english term for it, but 'scale skew', it's normal for less developed economies to go through more rapid growth (and also rapid decline). also, that birthrate is gonna drop when they hit 2nd world wage/gdppc, mark my words.

wages and GDP aren't relevant figures to see the quality of life in a certain region.
Purchasing power is much better, it tells exactly how many goods and services a citizen of a certain region has access to.

Purchasing power adjusts to the local population. If the wages are low, the prices are low. So the diffrences betwen the countries are much lower than these maps are showing. Also people have different shopping habbits so it's hard to calculate real purchasing power.

How is Austria so successful? It's quite a developed country but probably the least talked about. I know they're a socialist democracy, which funnily enough makes it hard for current immigrants to find jobs, and they're topping the GDP charts. Is it simply its proximity to Germany

I'm surprised because my father comes from a little hellhole called Eritrea you might be familiar with. I do have to admit you made my country the most sophisticated one in Africa for a while so I appreciate that. Anyways, Papa traveled through Italy, from south to north, and he remarked how bad Sicily, Calabria, and Campania were, even worse off than some villages back home. Padania was on some other league, very beautiful place. Times have changed though, so I expect the polentones have improved.

Meanwhile they are in heavy recession this year.

China said "we do no more construction now" and the whole economy imploded.

They elected unironic commies btw
>>
>>62221673
not him, but PPP is better because a crude number doesn't take into account the ratio wage/prices.
>>
>>62221673
what differences are you talking about? The only difference that matters is the value of the currency.
>>
>>62221673
I prefer nominal too but desu last few years nominal is fucked too aka 50% drop in Russia, 10% drop overnight in Uk after brexit etc.
>>
>>62221673
PPP per capita is simply a more accurate measure of relative living standards than nominal per capita.

Did Britain really lose 14% of its economy in one day? No.

GDP = total flow of services+goods through a country in a year.

GDP != one day of a year where you take a snapshot of the economy
