This is because americanism is tied to religion. I think people dont understand the number of Americans who view the constitution as basically the most recent book of the bible.
Should be pointed out that our founders were deists, illuminati types, and other such weirdos.
Its because religion in general is inherent with american thinking and tradition, and because it is NOT a specific religion or brand of it but rather all inclusive, that has prevented divisiveness or given people one specific thing to lose faith in.
And lastly, america is big on the seperation of church and state not to protect the government form religion like some atheists and leftist europoor seem to hope or think or encourage for their own communities, its the oposite, its to protect religion from government. America has no state religion. Many european countries that are very atheistic still have a state religion. Obviously this is presented as 'the religion' to people and it becomes easy to reject 'religion' itself when rejecting the state religion. America has no such problem, with really only people who are hard sold a specific religion as children rebelling against the concept entirely.
