I used to love watching Flight of the Conchords. To be honest I haven't seen the film "Boy" but I've seen "What We Do in the Shadows" and I liked it.
Wellington, NZ tries to go that mile further and claim that type of dry humour.
I like self deprecating humour and I hate ego. That's part of why I like older radio sport hosts and am not a fan of younger music radio hosts.
Rhys became kinda over saturated and his humour/speech got a bit too annoying for me as you'd see him in so many ads and shows.
I really dislike how other NZ hosts and such tried to copy their style of awkward humour but they did it in a real bad way and "over acted" it to the point where it became especially annoying and tedious.
It's all part of that tall poppy lookdown/British self deprecating style though.

All that you described is almost parallel to a comedy group we also had that broke up and one of them became over-exposed and everyone else tried copying him. Gato Fedorento they were called.
There's some differences between the kind of humour, but the level of sarcasm, cringe and self-satirization is exactly the same. Brits over-emphasize on the cringe or the silly for it to match ours. Their self-deprecation never feels honest for some reason.
Both "Boy" and WWDitS were great, I felt. I really like Waititi as a director. Shame "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" won't open here so I'll have to pirate it. Can't wait to see what he does with Thor 3.

Sorry it's just that nothing really pops up to my head when I think of Canadian cuisine. Portugal has so many that when people ask I don't even know which to advise. I once met a Canadian in Croatia and when talking about food he mentioned that when it was cold people'd roll sticks in the snow covered in maple syrup to make maple syrup ice creams. He also mentioned salmon with maple syrup. basically he gave me the idea that there ain't much to it besides maple syrup.

It has tons of castles, palaces, archeological sites, churches, little chapels, Roman bridges, statues, towers etc all over the country. Palácio da pena, quinta da regaleira, castelo de são Jorge, castelo de Silves, torre dos clérigos, torre de Belém, basilica da estrela, capela dos ossos, ruínas de Évora literally every city and even village has some sort of monument to see. I know the case is different because Portugal is an old country but i just cant think of any monument when i think of Canada, old or new (which isnt the case of other "new world" countries like the US, Brazil or Mexico.
