Gold coins? Got any pics?

>>62139037
I thought so. I was about to buy a 1 pound coin, but it was too expensive. Do you still use the qirsh?
>>
>>62139120
Dude nice
>>
>>62139336
no
here is our monetary system
1 pound = 100 qirsh . 1 qirsh = 10 milleme. 1 milleme = 16 sa7toot

least we use mostly now is 25 qirsh/piaster.

Buying the bimetal pound or silver/gold pound?
the bimetal is worthless

>>62139680
Impressive, lovely stuff. I actually never hold a gold coin on my hands. Are those inherited from someone or did you bought them yourself?

>>62139510
The bimetalic one. I know it's worth nothing, but it's a pretty coin. Do the silver pound coins get used or it's mostly for collectors?
>>
>>62140126
>Are those inherited from someone or did you bought them yourself?
My grandfather gave them to me, really nice coins.
>>
Do you work at a bank or something OP? Or is this just a serious hobby you have?
>>
>>62140711
Just a hobby. It's not too expensive, just a few cents for each coin, although I don't know how much I've spent during these years.

>>62140240
Excelent gift, take care of them, as I hope it will be a nice gift for your grandchildren.

I could to a bureau of exchange to buy some bills, but they only have European and American currencies. Also, they only have bills of high denomination.
I was about to buy this banknote one day, but the guy was asking 5$ for it. I'm not in a hurry, so one of these days I'll get Libyan coin or bill.

>>62144343

see if you can get some currency from the kingdom of Libya the design was cool
i've only seen it once here cuz gaddafi actively sought to suppress any memory of that period

>>62144980
The cow one was 10 gs. Still, I've gotten more Paraguayan bills since the last time.
>>
OP, given that asking you for chilean coins and bills is easy mode for you, I'll add an extra challenge.

Show me chilean money not currently in circulation, except the chilean bills and coins that were rotated out in favor of the current ones. This means old pesos, escudos, etc.

No $500 bill either. $100 and below is acceptable, and the old, non-bimetallic $100 coin is not acceptable either.

It's probably the light. And yes, they'll give you a 5 coin, just like they will give you a $500 coin for an old $500 bill.
Of course you don't want to do that, that 5 pesos bill is probably $3000 in that condition.
And thanks to you.
>>
>>62146152

>>
>>62147164
>Of course you don't want to do that, that 5 pesos bill is probably $3000 in that condition.
I agree, the central bank only deals with the actual value of the currency and doesn't bother with the collector's value.

Godspeed!

I've got a few, though to be honest it's less that I collected them and more that I just didn't spend my change from the metro ticket machine. Shame they stopped putting gold dollars in those.

I don't have a collection of the state quarters, either. Collecting everyday pocket change just kind of seemed pointless; I'd rather hold on to pocket change from trips and vacations.
>>
OP what would you say is your rarest coin? And also what is your most cherished for whatever reason?

The rarest is probably this 2 pesetas from Basque country, made during the Spanish civil war or that peseta from Equatorial Guinea. The one I love the most is a little chilean silver coin my grandmother gave when I was little.

>>62148169
The good old franc. Say, what kind of euros do you get over there? Mostly German and Belgian coins?
>>
>>62148884
What year is the half Crown?
>>
>>62148362
The German coins I got from my mother a long time back, and she in turn got when she lived I'm Hamburg for a few years.
I've also got her chunk of the Berlin Wall in the basement somewhere.

Sadly I have a terrible memory and collected all these coins piecemeal, often from friends, so I don't actually know where half of them are from anymore.
>>
>>62148884
Here's what I had in my wallet:

10x Luxembourg
2x Italy
2x Spain
1x Germany
1x France
1x Belgium
>>
>>62149034
1962, so it's not silver.

>>62149138
An actual piece of the wall? Neat.
Don't worry, it's great to have friends who travel and bring you some coins.
What's your rarest coin? The cayman island one?

>>62149157
I thought you would have more of other countries than your own. Nice to know thought, now I know Luxembourgian euros are not so hard to get.
>>
>>62149871
I've got plenty of cayman island coins, so I don't think they're rare at all.
Of the foreign coins, if I had to guess, I'd say it's probably the 200 mark coin. It's got a little hole drilled in it as though someone made a necklace of it, so clearly someone thought it was special. It and the Pfennig are from 1923 and 1914 respectively, so I think that makes them the oldest coins I have here.

The most valuable coins I have, though, are a bunch of all-silver dollars and half-dollars, along with silver quarters and dimes from back when we were on the gold standard. I also have a couple Double Eagles and a few bullion coins that my grandfather passed down.
No pictures of those, sorry, since they're in a safety deposit box.
>>
Pretty pointless to ask if you have any of our current coins so... do you have any Argentinian Australes?
>>
>>62150540
You're right. Even I have one single coin from Cayman Islands.
And have you thought on selling those silver and gold coins or are you going to pass them down?

Unsurprisingly, in my collection Argentina is the country with more quantity of coins, after Chile. And of course, a bunch of bills.
The oldest one is that 5 cents from 1904, the newest one is a 2 pesos from last year. Now I'm looking for the new 2 pesos coin released this week
>>
>>62151784
I'm planning on holding on to them. They're worth a fair amount, but not enough to make an impact on a retirement plan, and in any case they'll only appreciate over time. They've already been through four generations of the family; I may as well see them along to five. Maybe my grandkids might find things have gone to shit and be glad for a few thousand dollars in precious metals.
>>
>>62152644
Nice to know, I'm sure they'll appreciate it
Have you tought in buying silver or gold bullion for investment plans?
>>
>>62153489
I've toyed with the idea, but between the recession and uncertainty over Brexit the price of gold's been climbing. The time to buy was a few years ago, not right now. I don't exactly have a lot of cash on hand for getting into long-term stuff at the moment, in any case. I'm just happy if I don't need to touch my savings account.
>>
I just got back, and it seems this is over for the night.
Thanks to all the anons who posted, it was a fun way to pass the time. Maybe I'll do it during the weekend.

>>62153579
In any case, you still have a lot bullion on your hands.
