The east is in general less populated. Except for Berlin all cities are rather small. Economy is a bit worse. Especially on the countryside. In the larger cities its kinda ok. Prices, especially rent are also much cheaper.

Ossiland is booming (if you can call it that) as of now, lots of students are going there to study and such since rent and cost of living are significantly lower.
The accent is nails on a chalkboard to me however, so I could never bring myself to set foot in there. I live in a border town if you will and we get lots of Saxon transplants as well as people here to indulge in superior Western German capitalism at the local malls.
