Tell me about the cheeses of your country and what they're for.
This is the infamous American cheddar which triggers so many people on /int/, used for every purpose you can imagine. It's melted into pasta, grated on top of meat sauce, placed on a burger or in a sandwich, grilled between two slices of bread, cut into slices and eaten with apple, cut into cubes as part of hors d'oeuvres, baked into bread, and much more. It comes in multiple ages of mild to medium to sharp to extra sharp, and in colors of both orange and white. It will not be denied.
This first on topic thread after months

I don't know much about German cheeses but I love cheese in general.
The only Cheese which I know of is German atm is some really stank shit which I don't like the taste of.
I would love to try American cheddar some day.
We can only buy Cheddar from Ireland here but it's either not this toxic yellow or when it is it is only in thin slices already.
Plus it's expensive as fuck.
But last time I went to a wholesale market they actually had cheddar for a fair price and even huge bags of shredded cheddar / mozzarella like I always see it in American cooking videos.
Shame I didn't bring my thermos bag or I would have bought some, but the way home on my bike was too long for a cheese not to get sweaty and gross.

In the Netherlands we pretty much only eat Dutch, French and Italian cheeses.
Dutch cheeses are for every purpose. Sandwiches with cheese are the most eaten food here for breakfast and lunch. So it's for on bread, slices next to beer or used with dinner.
French cheeses are for when you have visitors. It's mostly put on small toast. But it's also eaten on slightly warmed up bread with honey and nuts.
Italian mozzarella is for mozzarella, tomato and pesto.

Dutch cheeses also have their age and fatness on them.
More fat means more taste.
Younger cheeses are juicier and softer.
Older cheeses are smellier and more dry.

This one is made in the spanish region of Galicia. It's called Tetilla.
With a smooth taste, creamy texture and slightly salty/acid flavour, is a snack with or without some galician bread.
Also, the name tetilla literali means "small tit" :)
It weights 1 Kg minimun.

each time I visit a new place (Europe), I'd look for local cheese and sausage.
