Countries with democratically elected governments post ITT
Stop! Not so fast Britain
>>62040852
i heard that years ago the politicians in australia we arguing a lot and couldn't come to an agreement. so she flew there, fired them all, and held new elections
Democracy doesn't really exist
Every so called democratic election in the world is rigged

Democracy is overrated
Normal people are retarded
Total monarchy when?
>>62041146
Not what happened 2bh
>>62041565
i don't even remember where i heard it from
what did happen then?
You don't count either America. Everyone knows it's actually Halliburton and Goldman Sachs that decide your elections
>>62041565
story time
>>62040852
>Americans aren't capable of handling absolute power responsibly.
The monarch is a God given position and right for a reason
>>62041410
I unironically agree to this
Our last election was rigged by secret service agents persuading people on online sites... very systematically
countries that have no real democracy arent allowed itt
that includes the following losers = usa, members of the eu, russia, and such
>inb4 muh republic
>>62041732
There was a stalemate and halt on policy which meant the house was no longer working in the interests of the people i.e making political progress and passing laws. After a certain amount of time of no progress/the next general election is soon, the Govenor-General of Australia can make a formal petition to the Queen to dissolve parliament - and She did.
>2016
>being elected
>>62041146
>>62041565
nah what happened was due to an impass in the australian parliament, the governor general on the Queen's authority dissolved their parliament for a brief period of time
she's done the same thing here too
>>62041950

God bless Queen Elizabeth.

Other lads explained it but a brief TL;DR: John Kerr and Malcolm Fraser are slimy cunts.
>>62040852
kek, yea for like what half an hour? few hours? It was the gap between David Cameron leaving and Theresa May coming in.
i dont know anything about britain
is this actually true
is the queen now the ruler until thatcher is sworn in?
>The USA is a democracy
wew
>>62042111
The Queen is always the ruler, they need her seal on every law for it to pass.
>>62042111
already sworn
They couldn't really stress "temporarily" enough, she was supreme ruler for about 40 minutes between Cameron resigning and the Queen asking Neo-Thatcher to form a government
>>62040852
Who /nogovernment/ here? 6 months and counting, lads.
Democracy has been proved over and over to be a failure, anyway.
>>62042185
im waiting for us to have a nutter of a monarch so that the next time inbetween PM's for you the monarch just goes full commonwealth and solidifies us up again
got a boner just thinkin about it m8
>>62042185
>form a government
as an american this is such a weird phrase to hear
does this just mean "hire her staff and get shit ready"?
also the queen should have done something crazy during that 40 minutes 2bh
>>62042111
>check'd
>>62042218
does no government mean you don't have to pay taxes?
>>62042268
>form a government
>as an american this is such a weird phrase to hear
Was America founded by Anarchists?
>>62042298
Nah we still have to do that.
>>62042185
>They couldn't really stress "temporarily" enough
Did the lefties go crazy about it?
>>62042324
Kinda, yeah.
>>62042185
>supreme ruler for about 40 minutes
... after waiting 60+ years.
>>62041511
Would William or Charles be the better King or would you just skip both and put the toddler on the throne?
>>62042268
your govertnmental process is more streamlined than UK/Commonwealth nations due to us having that monarchy fallback to support us, so you wouldn't see so much time between leaders, and therefore wouldn't have the necessity to form a new government outside of elections
>>62042324
When we elect someone we don't call it forming a new government.
>>62042099
Would have been good if she took advantage desu.
>>62042324
there are no coalition governments in the USA because single member districts basically force a two party system. It would be almost impossible in the America system for one of the two major parties to not have a 50% +1 majority in either the Senate or House.
>>62042513
Like Tom Cruise in Risky Business?
>>62042324
But isn't the government always the same? "Forming a new government" sounds the whole country's being written, like you're going from a republic to a dicatorship or something. Because Britain is still gonna be a parliamentary thing, so it's the same government, just with different memers running it.
>>62042640
Think of "government" in the same way you'd you use the term "administration", e.g. the Bush administration.
>>62042739
That makes sense thank you
>representative republic
>"""""""""""""""""democracy"""""""""""""""""
>>62042640
>just with different memers running it.
>>62042868
If all laws were voted on by the public directly the world would be in so much shit in just a few years you might as well rename it to India
>>62042218
Hopefully they won't form a government this time either so the army has to do something about it.
>>62042640
Your newly sworn President appoints a cabinet, it's the same thing. Only in your case you have autistic and frankly self-defeating rules about not naming your cabinet prior to the election which means if the incumbent party are retaining power there's less stability than in Westminster systems.
>>62042185
>The queen could have legally desolved Parliament for good and made herself and her descendents supreme rulers for eternity
>she chose not to
More like supreme cuck t.bh
>>62040852
Britain was made great again for a grand total of like 20 minutes. Oh well.
>>62041719
you forgot soros
>>62040852
queen pls take back the us
>>62042958
There's plenty of time between winning in early November and being sworn in on January 20th to make cabinet appointments without causing undue instability.
>>62040852
>Head of state elected through electoral college
>Democracy
>>62046336
Neither of our heads of state are directly elected.
You vote for a party and if you party is the biggest then they'll internally select someone to put forward.
We vote for our representative in our state district and our governor, who then in term cast an electoral vote for us. Your head of state is directly elected by members of parliament, our head of state is directly elected by a state's members of congress and governor.
So much commonwealth saltiness in this ITT.
>>62040852
>(temporarily)
Don't worry guys.
