How long is the standard school year in your cou/int/ry?

Here in Israel for elementary schools it's September 1st - June 30th,
while junior and high schools are a tad shorter September 1st - June 20th.

Are the Poles as educated as Israelis?
>>
>>62028215
>School year =/= calendar year
What hellish county would dare support this?
>>
>>62028447
It begins in February, we have vacations in July, the classes start again in August and it ends in December
>>
>>62028721
so both make like a 4 months-long vacation combined? woah that's long
>>
>>62028555
In Israel the school year starts at about the same as beginning of the Hebrew calendar (tho we mostly use the Gregorian calendar).
>>
>>62028786
More like 2 months and a half/3 months

September 1 - June ~2-4
Breaks of a week long in autumn, spring
Break of 2 weeks long in christmas
Some of the shorter breaks are eliminated in higher schools I think, not sure.

We have extremely long summer breaks, and some folks want to get rid of it (no student wants it though, and in a democracy we have to listen to the students)
>>
>>62029626
is that in addition to christian holidays?
>>
About January to December. Fucked if I remember the specifics, though; I finished highschool over a decade ago.
>>
>>62030409
damn that means you Aussies have over 3.5 months of vacations
that's really long
>>
>>62030440
That other guy fucked it up; it's more like a bit under 3 months.
>>
>>62028215
Back when I was school it used to be September 15th - May 24th (first and twelfth grade)/ May 30th (second to forth grade)/ June 30th (the rest). Though I think they've changed some stuff. I think the school year starts on September 1st now.

Breaks are: Winter break - usually from around December 20th to January 6th , but it varies a lot; Spring Break - first week of April usually; Easter Break - 4 days around Easter (again can vary); Summer Vacation - obvious.
>>
>>62028447

I dont know about Israelis, but we are high educated as well as rest of the center Europe.
Ours universities are free to every citizen of Poland and you can even study 2 directions in the same time.
We have summer break (2 month) from 1st July do 1st september) ,and then christmas (23 December-3st of january) and then 2-weeks winter cavation ( Faburary).
I miss the old days when my biggest problems was pimps and math problems.

da fuck Am I doing here...
>>
Check your country's academic degrees rank
>>
>>62030603
dude, this chart's from 2011.
Im not butthurting, but really - Israel has like a few million peoples in it, poland has over 40 . Try to compare this two countries and you will see that we have more high educated people amongst you, kikes.

Also,as I sad before, Italy,Portugal,Czechs- those are European countries. I dont say that we are better than Germs or Britons, but some of the Europeans yes.

Also how Is you internet connection ? :D 30 $ per 4 GB ? :D I would love to live in Israel, with all that cheap things and life.
>>
>>62030832
If you can't comprehend the concept of percentage to compare countries with different amounts of populations-
then you're probably not that educated.
>>
>>62031004

You know - dry statistics are rare true - the truth is in half-way. Comparing the percentage of students from each country, dont forget to mention the level of the universities and how hard it is pass your phd . In Poland its pretty hard - teachers are mostly from communism era and those aren fuck'around with students. You are not trying your best? fuck off,15 other people are on your place.

Is it the same in Israel? Or your goverment wants to have nice statistics but wuality of your students are worse than in other parts of the world?

Im asking questions, not judge you or your country. Remember that
>>
>>62031212
Explain this:

+Israel has 2 universities ranked in the top hundred of the world.

-Poland has 0 universities ranked in the top hundred of the world.
>>
>>62031263
We used to have one in top 10

University of Belgrade

Well until Yugoslavia fell apart anyway.
>>
>>62031402
sounds kinda sketchy.
nowadays there isn't even one eastern european university ranked in the top 100
>>
>>62031499
Not anymore, yes

>The University of Belgrade has found its place amongst the top 400 universities in the world, according to the most recent (2013) global ranking carried out by the Shanghai List. In the area of mathematics, it is ranked among the top 150 universities in the world.[5]

>150 in maths
isn't bad

but it used to be much better

>In the 1960s and 70s, the University developed into a remarkable regional and international educational institution. Many students from other countries were trained there. In the socialist Yugoslavia, the University was expanded, but it was also exposed to state and ideological influence. It has also been the driving force for the establishment of almost all other universities in today's Serbia, Montenegro, Republic of Macedonia and several universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.[6]

>In the early 1990s the quality of university programs deteriorated as a consequence of the political instability in the country and the subsequent wars of Yugoslavia. There was a lack of financial resources and the quality dropped significantly.

Soviet Universities were considered top tier as well during the time of the soviet union were they not ?

Now, not so much.

>>
It starts somewhere in mid August and ends on first of June or so
>>
Depends entirely on the school district. Usually it starts in August/September but when it ends can vary quite a bit depending on how often and how much vacation time is given.

how did you do that?
>>
We start around February and usually go until September or so.

It's strange how Northerner's school year spans over two years.
>>
HS/primary has four terms
Term 1 goes from the end of January to early April
Term 2 picks up at the end of April to early July
Term 3 picks up at the end of July to the end of September
Term 4 picks up at the beginning of October and goes to mid-December, usually about a week before Christmas.

That's just roughly though, in the end each term should be about ten weeks give or take a few days. Literally the perfect schedule tbqh.
