Where do I begin with our separatists? Each of the four nations have their own national identities but only in three of the four do they have power.
Specifically, where I am from, in NI we have had republicans since 1920 hoping to end partition. Even now since the GFA in 1997 our society here is largely divided into unionists, nationalists and those who don't care but only unionists and nationalists have the real electoral success.

We have two types of separatists around here. The first want to rebuild the iron curtain and reintroduce the GDR. They are a meme.
The second are Bavarians who think they would be better off without the rest of Germany. They are also a meme.
There's tons of micro-separatist fun going on in our states though. Franconia wants to be separated from Bavaria for example, which would be a very sensible thing to do. Their culture and language is not very similar and they have always been separate in history. Bavaria is the largest state so it would be fine.
Then we have the tiny land of Lippe, which is part of North Rhine Westphalia nowadays, but has a strong sense of identity. It's a small blob of land with a few more than 300 000 inhabitants, but a separation is unlikely to happen.
And then there is the reverse case of Bremen which should really, honestly be integrated into Lower Saxony.

Protest is the wrong word. Treat people from the south differently because they're Irish when there is a border and a currency barrier and two governments. Some unionists want to end the free movement of people and put a physical border to stop potential reunification. That's why they backed Brexit, even though free movement is enshrined in the GFA and there has been a common travel arrangement since the 1930s.

Nationalism is a modern concept. Faroese nationalism in particular is less than 100 years old. Not even Jóannes Patursson believed in separation. However, I fully acknowledge that Faroese nationalism is growing more and more.
Bretons separatists are usually leftists. They are not really relevant, they almost disapear after killing a young Mcdonalds employee by mistake in the 90's.
Brittany is a socialist stronghold so autonomist or independentists legal parties are usually left-wing.
Alsacians separatists are not relevant either, and are usually far-right or neo-nazi. Alsace is a conservative stronghold so legal political parties are usually right wing.
Basque separatists are less active than in Spain since french basque country is small.

There is also legal independentist political parties.
