Israel, clearly. There's something inherrently romantic about the only outpost of civilization in the region constantly defending itself against the Islamic hordes that want to see it, and its people, erased. That, and the importance it has to three of the largest religions in the world. Jerusalem is a pretty romantic place in that sense.
