>>61917168
it looks so much better since the Várkert Bazár (below the Castle, in the left half of the picture) has been refurbished
>>61917263
East Asia is easily the pinnacle of mudhut architecture
Prague's probably the most beautiful city in the world
>>61917344
Cologne is bretty gud too
>>61917344
far from it imo but still very good as for the Eastern European standards
>>61917436
oh right, dubai #1 shanghai #2
Have you even left Poland?
>>61917399
That is Cologne?
Was there a few years ago and found it to be the ugliest city I have ever seen. There was literally nothing other than the Dom. And I was moving around the city a good bit by bike.
>>61917478
......... Well shit....
I always thought it was Cologne. But I may be wrong....
>>61917473
>oh right, dubai #1 shanghai #2
these cities aren't even top in terms of modern architecture
we were talking about traditional architecture and classic european cities, then Paris, Rome, Milan, Venice, Vienna, Florence would be amongst the top, well maybe Prague aswell but I really doubt anyone would unironically put it at #1 over Paris or Rome, only someone completely unaware of historical significance and influence of these two would do that
>>61917330
You got me there
>>61917399
>Cologne
Wew. The only thing they have is a cathedral that was lucky enough to survive the britbong annihilation of the city. Lucky for them it's a damn fine cathedral.
>>61917478
>>61917573
It's Dresden, you can see Frauenkirche
>>61917725
Cologne cathedral easily amongst the top Gothic cathedrals ngl

JUST
>>61917922
Krakow, Gdańsk and Wrocław are qt
Tbh it's because we've transferred our capital during PLC from Kraków to Warszawa, so Kraków didn't receive any new landmarks and Warsaw had to be built up basically from nothing. King was powerless, nobles didn't like cities in general, no one was eager to invest in beauty. Also even though Warsaw was quite nice it was annihilated(80% of buildings damaged/destroyed). And we are building up Warsaw from nothing again and have Kraków with little medieval and early reneissance stuff.
And Gdańsk isn't Polish.
>>61918005
Kek, that's literally how I found it
>>61918058
none of them have anything comparable to pic related
>>61918255
well, if it makes you a bit more happy, not many cities around the globe do
Easily best looking parliament in the world. And the funny thing it's Hungarian out of all the countries on this planet.
Like I don't have anything against Hungary, but this parliament looks like some of a great power, it almost looks like from some dark fantasy evil empire.
>>61918255
>tfw they're still nicer cities than anywhere in Northern Europe
>>61918347
Yeah I know like Germany are great, rich, populous and all yet they lack a landmark like this.
>>61918412
well, back in the day when it was built, optimism and faith in the future were the two other big trends in our part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire besides nationalism - people genuinely believed that we will be a great power once again, like we were between the 1100s and the 1400s
>>61918709

slavs misbehaving and the French being utter faggots desu
Why does nobody pay attention to the architecture of the Low Countries here. We have a lot of great stuff, because we had a huge bourgeoisie. I will start with Ghent.
>>61918919
Flemish architecture is probably my favorite.
>>61918919
f-fuck off please, my "the one that got away" lives in Ghent ;_;
>>61918919
But we do. Belgium has some of the prettiest cities in Europe. Netherlands isn't too bad either, but a bit more anonymous and less extravagant.
>>61919019
You shoudn't start a long-distance relationship. Hungarian girls are top tier

>>61919097
True. Our architecture is really calvinistic. Our reputation would probably change when the Netherlands and Flanders are united. Haha

Went to bed before seeing this, lmao. It's just because we get a lot of exposure to English in everyday life, and naturally the similarities between languages also play a key role in it. I don't think our education is much better than elsewhere in that regard. And,

>>61924689
I'm leaning towards plain art deco. It's at least some form of early modernism.
>>61925595
Is this even one specific style? Looks to be a 19th to early 20th century mix of everything.
>>61920849
What is this? how can i get similar things to this? What should i type in google?
>>61926834
yeah it's a little bit of everything
it was the apartment of Manó Mai, the imperial photographer of Franz Joseph
was Bauhaus the last great architectural style?
>>61927335
It's the town hall in Brussels. Style is brabantine gothic.
>>61927422
It's a nice house. Looks to mostly take inspiration from baroque, or maybe renaissance.
>>61927552

>>61930967
Hahaha oooh that's a good one.
>>61927956
no it was Gothic, the last style which succesfully invented something
>>61929099
what is "concrete-gothic"
>>61931250
what is "meme-name"
>>61931155
You'll have to elaborate on that one. It's fine if you like Gothic the most as a style, but how was it the last to do something new? The leap from Romanesque to Gothic wasn't nearly as great as the leap from Gothic to Renaissance and onwards.
>>61931580
pointed arch, ribbed vault, flying buttress
reneissance was just a shitty copycat of the roman and greek ancient architecture, all about fake columns and ugly domes
gothic looks much more imposing
new view of houston
>>61932138
the work which set the begginings of the rennaissance style, duomo di firenze was an innovation without precedents, tyh style itself saw the creation of perspective as a tool for design, frescos, advances in sculpture... cant remember the specifics
every style thereon saw advances in one thing or another, the most important ones of course iron, steel, concrete being rediscovered, et.c
>>61934175
it's just I don't like domes
>>61934375
why not, domes ar emajestic, they represent heaven and femeninity
>>61934732
What are those types of domes called?
>>61934375
besides, al the pics youve posted here are neoclassic and the first pic has a dome
>>61934851
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion_dome
like most russian orthodox churches
>>61934851
Onion domes, which are personally some of my favorites. Kind of rare to see outside Russia, and only Russians make them that pretty anyways.
