So?

No hippos, crocs or piranhas, would be nice to go in with a boat

it wobbles under your feet and swallows you up and then they dig you up 20,000 years later and put you in a museum

There's a reason why Mongolian and Russian empires never really cared about this piece of land.
>>
>>61895219
Can you go on a boat on it?

It'd be impractical.

As far as I know the scientists who study marshes use logging tracks, special kind of boots and small canoes.

>>61895297
I know, I live near a peatbog land.

>>61895299
A good source of berries.
>>
do finns use turf as fuel?
>>
>>61895484
Yeah a bit, but it's very controversial.

Special boat with a giant propeller or a special mud-engine.

>>61895219
many mosquitos there...
>>
>>61895569
ye have plenty of lumber though so i doubt you use as much as ireland
pretty much every irish fireplace is heated with turf, although the government tries to regulate it
our bogs are mostly man made, from when the first farmers felled forests for farmland, and thanks to the acidity of the soil, became bogs.

Looks much like the primeval Slavic homeland of Pripyat. Are Finns really just an alternate (Turanic-Eskimo) development of the Slavs?

After the 2nd World War they drained lots of marshes for forests and farm land.

But since the late 60's they realized how shitty it was for the enviroment and since it has been really difficult to exctract turf or anything else from our marshes.

For a good reason though, pic related is extremely endangered bird that only live in northern swamps.

it goes the other way

I watched a movie Midnight Special and it had a scene in a swampy forest in Southern USA which looked exactly like Finnish wilderness.
>>
>>61896106
USA is a huge slut with everything.
>>
>>61896106
Doubtful. Southern US forests are completely different my boreal friend.
>>
>>61896651
Yeah I know. That's why I was so surprised.

I'll try to find a screenshot of that scene.
>>
>>61896755
Best I can find. The road scene before this looked even more similar.

Could've easily been shot at an edge of Finnish swamp.

Looks like a lot of areas here in Florida.

I lived in the Panhandle near bama, where are you at?

I desire to know more about Finland!
>>
>>61896837
We have large areas like that here in South east Texas.
>>
>>61896837
That's just a pine plantation though. Which I guess that's all Finland is at this point. That picture could be anywhere.

We have different kind of trees and instead of alligators and snakes we have bears and wolves.

But swamp is a swamp.

I bet our mosquitos could beat up your mosquitos
