Pride is a spook.
Whether you're proud of your or some community's achievements doesn't matter in the end. Pride doesn't matter, achievements don't matter. Only abilities matter for the hungry self that always trying to reach new goals, because they will help one to move forward.
As a derivative, if people realize that it's it's a spook, a figure of illusion, national pride is important. It'll show that a community is prestigious and worth belonging to. Another person's pride is important because it'll show his worth towards other people.
What's completely unimportant for each and every person is their own pride towards themselves, since it's completely meaningless. It's tautology that someone can never be someone else. So for the better or the worse he'll be, who he is.
So Schopenhauer is not only wrong. He's completely wrong.
