Basically searing the outside keeps more of the juices in, allowing the fat in the meat to render and baste. The meat becomes super succulent when you do it right.

The majority of it, yes.

Blame Germans. Also, the main American use for bread is for sandwiches, and the square shape is more conducive for that purpose

>>61855440
Makes some sense.

But European bread shouldn't be that expensive. Not smaller ones, at least. Do you guys not have bakeries that make their own bread?

>>61855458
We use the weird round bread to make sandwiches as well. It just takes the extra step to carve it open. I guess it's harder to transport.

I'm just asking because I don't much like the square bread. It always tastes like it was frozen and the white part is never as soft. Maybe it's just the ones we sell here.

Shitty countries for farming/fruits/southern commodities. Down here we have a lot more to work with. Spanish always spam tomatoes in everything, for example, and I can't imagine them being able to grow tomatoes that well in Britain, where it all started.

They all get their brownish, greasy, somewhat slimey looking food because they need high calories for the cold. Down here we need fresher stuff to keep cool. Having their beans and then working on the field at 40º heat would fucking kill you.

Pic obviously isn't me but I've pretty seriously gotten into cheese recently. Dairy is one of my favorite foodgroups, hell, anything from a cow is amazing.

Anyway, I keep finding myself picking up some camembert and I make my own bread. So when the grillfriend and I watch movies I plate some cheese and small squares of bread I bake extra long so it's harder, then we just nom down on it. Healthier and much better than popcorn. Oh that totally reminds me I need to try out some seasoned popcorn ideas.

I recommend it canuck bro, I do it everyday and it's soooooooo worth it. I make large batches (lot of dough to rise) and I toss on my kitchen counter in the morning, then when I get home it's ready to go (like 5:30pm) then I pop it in the oven. I take it out like an hour before I sleep, toss it in the fridge (gotta cool it fast) then I wrap it in some wax paper and voila - damn motherfucking good bread for like 4 days. And it only costs me like maybe a dollar a massive loaf.

Indian food is popular here. Greasy, starchy, and flavours are overwhelming as fuck, but who the hell cares? There's the prata - fried flatbread - which you tear into little bits and dip into the chicken or fish curry to soak up all that silky-smooth goodness. Alternatively if you're a pleb you dip it into sugar, but that's gross to me. Also, that maggi goreng's lit: ramen noodles fried with masala spices, a bit of ketchup, and a healthy dose of beef or chicken fat, topped with a sunny side up and its runny yolk. Holy shit that's fucking amazing.

Generally people eat indian food for supper. Really comfy to go out with the lads at 12am, get a lil drunk, and then woof down all that oily goodness. Perfection.
>>
>>61858123
>damn motherfucking good bread for like 4 days.
If I may interject here, "good" bread never stays good for more than half a day without you noticing it.

It's still edible after 4 days, sure, but it should not resemble half-hour to 12-hour old bread, which is what we eat here when we can.
