The USAF boasted that they could land a bomb in a wooden barrel from five thousand feet so was given the task of blowing out the German defences before the landings put boots on the ground. Everysingle bomb missed by a considerable margine and qll defences were at ful capacity.
The landings were supposed to be relatively easy, but thanks to the American ego many died needlessly.
