If America had won back then I am quite sure Vietnam would be in a way worse position than it is now with another installed puppet democracy that has no backing from the general population and 20 putsch attempts since then.
Vietnam turning to the US is a modern day development and won't lead to a change in government and North Korea is probably the only country where you won't find people consuming US media, so that part doesn't really say much anyway.
