Does your country have a culture of picking mushrooms? Do you do it yourself? What's your favorite?
Americans are afraid of wild mushrooms so nobody I know does it. Personally I like to find milk-caps or boletes.

Yes. It's a common hobby, especially among old people. Hence, why mushroom poisoning is a thing here. Personally I don't know much about mushrooms, with the exception of a couple of poisonous ones to avoid. When it comes to eating them I'm a pechurka (Agaricus) pleb.

I've seen adverts in magazines trying to push people to get them eating mushrooms.
Most people think of rubbery nasty button mushrooms when you say 'mushroom' here, and most people don;t like them.
I like them, but I never used to. Like most families I wasn't exposed to them in my childhood so the texture and flavour took a bit to get used to when I got older.
People in my area pick morel mushrooms, puffballs, and "chicken of the woods".

There many edible plants that people don't eat.
If you can find a book on Foraging for your region it would show you all that you can eat.

>Americans are afraid of wild mushrooms so nobody I know does it.
That's because so many are poisonous. No one wants to do painfully.
It is pretty common , parents take their kids along on the mushroom hunt
>>61706246
I think I saw P. semilanceata in my uni last fall, which makes sense, since it's usually frequented by wild horses and sheep. I could be wrong, though, morphotypes can be really misleading
>>61704595
