About $1 for kg I guess, though everything else is more expensive here
You could pick any food and that chart would look exactly the same.
US and Japan got it rough.

understandable with japan, they are very poor in terms of arable land
but USA? are you fucking kidding me? half of the land is arable

Japan needs to kill some chinks and get some land.

Price varies too much depending on location and type: website claims 2.65 per kilo, but can be as low as 1.20.

Figures are roughly right, but people here (South Ticino) cross to Italy to buy food at about half the cost.
Stuff I buy in Italy: Pasta at 1 Euro per kg (USD 1.20), rice at 1.50, hard durum wheat bread rolls at 3.40 per kg (cheapest I can find, sliced costs 2.50), red table wine 1.35 EUR a litre (used to be 50 cents 8 years ago).
Local Swiss Coop prices: Pasta 2.70 EUR, Bread 6.50 EUR (!), red wine 3.20 EUR.

5lbs of potatoes cost about $2.50 here, which equates to about 2.23 kg I think. Strange to see them cost that much on the list.
