These Japanese buildings were all reconstructed, that's why aren't they decaying and look so flawless.
>>61687735
Partially. The pagoda to the right there is one of Japan's oldest, surviving since the 700's. It's all a matter of taking care of things.
It's currently undergoing restoration until 2018 though, so good recent pictures of the whole complex are scarce.

Japan seems nice ngl, but the thought of living there is a really far off one. Haven't even been to the place yet, and I'm already pretty comfy in my motherland.

Same. Used to take lots of photos, but then my digicam broke. I could use my phone's camera, but it's just not the same.
So is there actually an architectural difference between pre-1900 Japan and China?
>>61690506
Just look up traditional architecture of both countries and compare. But from just my observations, Chinese had more artsy temples and shrines, and quite different pagodas. Japanese architecture would usually be less striking and more in line with the nature surrounding it. Shinto architecture also became somewhat of a thing, steering away from the typical buddhist stuff on the mainlands. The Japanese also had a knack for this bright red painted wood, which I haven't seen much off in other Asian architecture.
Japanese castles are also unique to Japan in style as far as I know.
What do you think about Russia?
