yeah, beer is quite cheap here - a Dreher/Soproni (popular Hungarian brands) costs around 80 euro cents in shops and around 2 euros at posh/hip downtown bars. compared to French or Italian prices I'd say it's heaven.
the people are nice enough, especially when dealing with foreigners, but don't expect smiling Hungarians everywhere, we're more reserved than that. knowing a few basic words in Hungarian will be much appreciated by the locals.
