All of my middle school and high school teachers were fluent and we even had a french chick in our class. The problem I hvae with french is their weird conjugation. There are so many rules that you have to remember that you cannot focus on learning more words. So many of their verbs are irregular too, making it all about memorization which im not good at. Now granted my language is also like that, it has a gazillion rules and shit but when its your first language that you speak at home it just comes naturally i guess. Also other than that, I dont ever recall using French outside of class, so there is no way for me to solidify my knowledge . Even on airports in France they use English and I dont want to go around embarrassing myself trying to speak French.

When I was in class back in HS I saw what you meant about the verbs. There are some weird ones, but from what I remember most of them follow the same manner of conjugation, like verbs ending in "er" all generally conjugate the same, and those struck me as the most common anyway.
Some people just have a better ear and knack for it I guess, nothing that's a fault of yours. Especially if there's no real application for you to learn it, it's tough to motivate unless it's a personal driving desire. That's kinda where I'm at with it I guess, plus for me I'm a lot closer to French Canada than I was so I think it'd be neat to be able to learn the language.

I don't think of America as the greatest and #1 over everything else, but after learning what I have about the innovation of the Constitution and the uncharted direction our country took, as well as how our society and history has been shaped throughout the years, I maintain a lot of pride in where this nation came from and what all we've accomplished.
Maybe that makes me a hipster about it, but I don't care. Everyone does their own thing differently.

Lack of blind patriotism doesn't at all make you hipster. I would hope that anyone with a sense of patriotism could justify their feelings, though naivety has risen to where even the fundamentals upon which this country is based have become obscure.
Sort of relevant, I've been watching a lot of street interview videos on youtube in which the public is given history questions, those found on our citizenship test & general common knowledge. I know there is likely plenty of cherry-picking in who makes the cut for entertainment value, e.g. in Watter's World, yet I can't help but be deeply worried by the prevalence of naivety, and even more by the apathy towards the knowledge principle to this country being deemed too "irrelevant" or boring to be worth knowing, since these people who don't know the first thing about this country or world history are allowed to vote, doomed to repeat history.
For several months so far I've accumulated thousands of informational flashcards in anki decks ranging over a wide variety of topics, and stockpiled historically relevant literature on my e-reader just to set myself aside from these people, having not been much better than them not too long ago. When I first began watching those videos, there were many questions I should've known the answer to by heart but didn't. I'm fucking terrified of being another mindless drone.
