Barcelona is honestly the best city in Spain. About Catalan, if your level of Spanish is good you can already read it and understand spoken Catalan. Writing is more difficult, but you've got the foundations.

I have been there before as a tourist, but not long term. I have seen the city, so I know it's amazing. But living there is a whole different story.
Hopefully more barcebros or spain bros will come forward with more info.

Probably one of the worst "big" cities in Spain to live. I'd tolerate being there for a week long vacation, but a couple of years? There are way better alternatives than living in an overpriced attraction park for tourists.
