Why do cities so often vote left?
The difference in policies between left and right barely affect them in comparison to farmers. Why should they dictate over land they know nothing about?
>>
>>61502797
More young people, more educated people, and more immigrants.
>>
>>61502888
this, plus the fact that leftist policies benefit cities if they benefit anyone
>>
>>61502888
>more young people
Having children, and more than just one or two, is pretty important for famers.
Last I checked birthrates for leftists was in heavy decline
>more educated people
I'd hardly consider arts degrees an education
Business get huge cuts under our right
and stem, well i guess i could understand their desire to vote left.
>immigrants
That I can also understand.
>>
Urban people are liberal because cities=minorities so you learn to live in peace

Rural people are conservative because every one in your village is the same as you so you never learned to accept differences

more educated in a marxist system, yes.
>>
>>61502797
City people don't rule country people, Friendo.

Urban elites, in alliance with rural elites, work in tandem to keep the urban poor and rural poor in line.

>>61502956
Children can't vote, silly. Because many suburban and rural youth move to the cities, there are lots of young voters there. Also, I doubt there's a political association with birth-rates. The factors that contribute to fertility are wealth and religion.

>>61502979

City people are parasites and don't produce a damn thing of what they consume, simply parasite off the production of the producers, rural people are producers.

Your employer doesn't care about you. The only reason your job has not been given to a machine, an immigrant, or an Indian is because you're currently slightly less expensive than the alternative.

If we don't reverse the economic direction our society is headed in, the vast majority of Westerners will be locked in hopeless poverty and depression.

Venezuela isn't falling apart because it's socialistic, but because the government is corrupt and not properly democratized. Chavez' feeble economic empire could not be handled by somebody as incompetent and Maduro, but the people cannot vote him out. In addition, declining oil prices deprived the Venezuelan state and Venezuelan businesses of income, which was the backbone of the country's economy.

That's exactly what happens when you have a huge state, m8. Chavez was just as dumb as Maduro is and Venezuela is sinking for more than a decade now. Also, this stupid mentality against tecnology is the worst thing about marxism. New ways to produce= new specializations and more investment in it.
>>
>>61503700
It's less of a religion than a secular form of Utopianism for self-described intellectuals

I wasn't saying you were wrong, I'm just saying there's a shitfight over someone's red star cosplay and then someone comes along and says something that actually is consistent with Marxist analysis.

>cities are traditionally centres of industry and people working there tend to vote for labour parties reinforcing trade unions of all kinds

Except the importance of trade unions has declined greatly in most Western nations, yet Western cities are still heavily Left compared to the countryside

the workers did not die out though and they tend to have more children onto which they project their own worldview

In France it's the same, big cities tend to vote left, except for southern-east ones:
In Marseille (2nd most populated french city) FN get 35% of the vote at last elections, in Nice (5th french city) they get 34% and in Toulon (15th french city) they get 39% of the voices.

We also have some "red countryside", in regions like Auvergne, Limousin, Brittany, and south-west in general, where small villages used to vote communist and now vote for left parties
>>
>>61502797
Bigger mix of lower class workers with middle class people, leading to a more liberal worldview.

Marxism really gained traction from the Industrial Revolution through the concentration of lower class workers in cities.

Plus rural areas are a lot more homogenous, which leads to less diversity in thinking.

Cities are more reliant on government services and city infrastructure. In rural towns the biggest government issue is fixing potholes in the road
>>
>>61502797

-More educated

-More immigrants and minorities

-Living in a city you tend to encounter stuff outside your comfort zone way more than in rural life or small towns, which leads to liberalism. This'd go with the immigrants and minorities thing.

-Cities deal with the government a lot more in terms of infrastructure and services, so government expansion doesn't bother that much. FWIW, rural and suburban areas also get various public benefits, but not to the same degree.

>I'd hardly consider arts degrees an education
There are what, 130 undergraduate courses run by the University of Sydney alone. Ultimately, a lot of our politicians are university educated and choose combined arts degrees.

You need another argument on that front. And the fact that "educated" can include people into their eighties who have actual life experiences.
>>
>>61508298
>Ultimately, a lot of our politicians are university educated and choose combined arts degrees.
A combined degree isn't an arts degree.
Its an arts degree AND a useful one. For example I study commerce/arts (international studies) combined.
obviously the arts portion is just a hobby, something I enjoy and find interesting, its not something important and I wouldn't consider it an education by any means.
>>
>>61509397
Nah I know that, just wondering if he did.

It's also disingenuous to say all arts degrees are useless considering there are so many major options. Granted a majority are vocationally useless, but there still remain some that are impactful and useful to society.

Dismissing someone because they have an education is just absurd. Troglodites tried to do the same with my degree - but then the dumb cunts had their children get whooping cough.
>>
Cities are full of insecure jobs and students on welfare. And city people don't have independence on anything, they can't even go places without public transportation.
As dependents like that, they can't stand the idea of not having a welfare state to be their mom.
>>
Why leftist people have always this arrogance of believing they are more educated and in "the good side"?
>>
>>61502797
>The difference in policies between left and right barely affect them in comparison to farmers.
Not when you take scale into account. A single factory can turn a small city's fortunes around. A single need-based subsidy can change the lives of thousands of people.

Because we generally are. Rightism is the promotion or even creation of inequality, which isn't acceptable
