British culture and American culture are similar enough that they can coexist peacefully. The revolution in America is seen by most British historians nowadays as a return to more traditional English values that Britain followed up on after the end of George III's reign.

But in that case, why are the words specifically French? The stuff we borrowed has changed in usage and formation over the past 1000 years to be English. If French Latinate words aren't really Latin then why are the French-derived words in English French? Many of the words that originally come from French are used completely differently now and some don't even exist in Modern French at all.

Or to use your own words against you:

It's not that strange. Gerund forms exist in other languages too. It's just that (apparently) they don't teach traditional grammar in Australian and British schools anymore, so you don't get a proper grasp on all the structures. I was pretty shocked when I found out about that because even the poorest, most redneck schools here in the US heavily emphasize grammar.

Because that was a normal regional variation in England when the first settlers showed up here. We just maintained the regional usages that were common in the parts of England that Americans typically came from.

RP didn't come about until the early 20th century and its origins are in the way 19th century southern English aristocrats spoke. America standardized its version of the language a bit earlier on (with Webster) to distinguish ourselves from the Brits.

It's still spoken, but now more by people who are British-American (Lauren Cohan being one) rather than Americans actively learning it .

Ah. What do you think will happen when the Queen dies?

>>61465673
Why don't we have regional accents in Australia? Do you have them in Norway?
>>
>>61465725
>Why don't we have regional accents in Australia?

You probably do, they might just be subtle.

>Do you have them in Norway?

Sure, we even have different dialects where most words are so different it could almost be called another language.
>>
>>61462554
>>61462409
Do french actually believe this ? Why don't you also put a space before periods then ? Like this .
>>
>>61465725
I'm assuming Harry is going to take the throne since no one wants William on it. RP will stay the same though. It's not tied to the Queen herself. It's just an institution.
>>
>>61465796
>I'm assuming Harry is going to take the throne since no one wants William on it

You what? William and Kate are quite popular. Charles is next in line anyway, and he's not as popular.
>>
>>61465786
Why are Norwegians based?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChBsOxskMpDmBAsgJ91fKcg

>>61465796
I would like that, do you mean charles and William though. Harrys the ginger one
>>
>>61465842
Sorry I get them all confused. I meant Charles is unpopular and William is the one wanted on the throne. The monarchy isn't a huge deal over here and only really supreme Angloboos bother to keep up with it.

And yeah, he's next in line, but everyone thinks he's going to abdicate anyway and just pass it on to his son. He's a bit old to be assuming the crown at this point.
>>
lmao @ these same threads everyday
why cant we all get along and have gay sex
>>
>>61465842
Do Brits feel strongly about Australia becoming independent? We like the queen but will probably have a referendum when she dies

>>61465938
If he doesn't abdicate then it will mean we will have old kings and queens forever with the way life expectancy is going

I admit I use the foreigner punctuation on /int/
I don't want to shock people with my french punctuation
>>

Well, he certainly isn't.
>>
>>61465793
Stop putting spaces, it's cultural appropriation
>>
>>61465998
You're already independent m8, but I know what you mean.
I think it's seen as just the natural direction of progress, though I don't think there's one main opinion overall
but brits do like australia a lot either way and I dont think theyll stop coming

He's ok. Check out his stuff on Brexit and Brevik.

He's funny and sensible

But yes his "end times are coming" shit is annoying. I only found him a few days ago. Is it Varg?

>>61466096
We should form a commonwealth super bloc like the EU but without the bullshit. All have immigration laws like Australia and stop the boats. With the TPP that's what we're doing anyway but America sees itself as a senior partner that is bs.

I saw today Howard saying that "There is no threat to Australian sovereignty" but there really is with the TPP. Plus it might make piracy illegal which I don't like
>>
>>61466041
It's not 'foreigner' punctuation because it's not your language. You're the foreign one here and your punctuation is foreign to the language. Every style guide in the Anglophone world requires that there be no space between the end of a word and a punctuation mark.

I'd expect you to correct my shit if I went into /fr/ and started using " instead of « ».
>>
>>61466181

Yes?

He looks skinnier in the varg posting pictures. Do you know why he went to Prison?
>>
>>61466069
But do you use space for periods? Like this .
>>
>>61466251
Because he's older and fatter now

He went to prison because he killed his friend and destroyed historically important churches.
>>
>>61466347
Nope
>>
>>61466396
Was he famous before the internet stuff? Tell me about Varg please

Why did he do that? Is he some sort of redneck thor worshiper?

Why kill you mate?
>>
>>61466464
Well there's his version of the events on his blog http://www.burzum.org/eng/library/a_burzum_story02.shtml
>>
>>61466464
>Was he famous before
He's one of the most famous black metal musicians of all time, so I would say so, yes. He was of course very famous in Norway because he burned down old and significant churhces then kept getting rearrested whenever he was out on probation.

I don't know why he killed his friend, some say it was over money, some say it was self-defense, some say ideology (his friend was very into Hoxha).

He did burn the churches because of WE WUZ bullshit, yes.
>>
>>61466561
That's fucking stupid. WE WUS is all very good but old churches are very nice and are a part of the culture. We don't really have any nice stuff like that down here but some abo burning them down for the rainbow serpent or whatever would not be appreciated.

He seems a bit rough but I wouldn't have thought that he would kill someone.

What is Hoxha?

>>61466525
ty am reading it now
>>
>>61466776
Enver Hoxha was the leader of communist Albania from 1944 to 1985.

Well obviously he has conviction, the churches are meaningless to him.

And killing someone is a huge part of WHY he's famous tbqhwy
>>
>>61466901
He seems pretty nice when he's with his kids though man. I thought he was just a slightly eccentric guy banging on about the brexit (how I found him through /int/) and talking about brejvik. He seemed kinda based on his ideas on capitalisim too

Does he do much than post on youtube these days?
>>
>>61467001
Not that I know of, he seems to just be a family man (possibly preparing for happening) enjoying his life in the french countryside and posting to youtube and his website.
>>
>>61467153
Its nice he had a happily ever after. Sounds like he killed this dude in cold blood though. Even by his own account

kek at his description and saying that he didn't kill a fellow Norwegian though

"Euronymous was actually Lappish, as can be clearly seen from the pictures of him. His Lappish (Mongolian) facial features are very visible,"

He's going to finally get to live like a viking once civilization collapses. You'll see.
>>
>>61467284
He did.

He's served his time though.
>>
>>61467356
That's how it is.

He says that he would rather be in a dungeon like prison like the old prisons that he served in than the modern ones like Brejevik is in. Says the isolation is torture.

Also says they torture Brejevik. Did you hear anything about this?

I think maybe if I saw him I would give him a kick but I wouldn't torture him. Man's obviously fucked in the head. Why not go to England and shoot up a load of ethnics if you want white people to be top dog. I mean we already are ! what's this nutcase banging on about
