In all my life I have never once heard somebody complain about supermarkets being too far away. Any given supermarket is a 5 or 10 minute drive away. Even in those huge labyrinthine ones.

In the most extreme cases where a supermarket is far away enough to be an inconvenience either due to poor city planning or if you live in the middle of nowhere, you simply stock up. You make a large grocery list to last you for a couple weeks, buy a whole bunch of groceries at once and repeat the process once it looks like you're low on groceries.
