1) No english channel, the ancestors of the dutch, the english(partly) and the north germans migrated into the soon to be island after the ice age. they settled the east of the island. then people from the western european coast migrated to "england", settled in the west of the islands, including ireland.
2) they got celticized by the new hype culture of the era.
3) romans invade, take over, lose power, huge vaccum power, the SMALL invading anglo saxons take over and impose their culture, those who don't want to be under anglo saxon rule, stay on the west of the islands, some of them even go to britanny in france.
4) vikings invade, they lose. no genetic effect.
5) the normands invade, they win, major change of english society, imitating the french model of rule. the anglo saxon language is raped and turn into english, no major genetic consequences, only the elite changed.
