That's why, there are so many legendaries on that list
You know, some Japanese people tried to justify Kanji to me by comparing it to English words.
This makes no sense at all. Imagine if I was trying to learn Italian, which uses the Roman alphabet.
A few months in, I know how to pronounce Italian correctly, but then I see a word of which I don't know the meaning. I can correctly read that word and ask an Italian "Hey, what does this mean?". Even then, a word is MUCH easier to remember than squiggles, so I can just go home and type it out on the Internet.
I honestly don't know why Kanji has to be so hard.

Since I'm not really spiritually tied to torii or anything, I think it's kind of neat that they just left it where it fell and are reusing it in a way. It preserves the history of the place without reconstructing it, kind of like some of the ancient ruins in Europe and whatnot. But I can see why the Japanese posters may find it disrespectful.
