There is also usually semi-distinct cliques like the stoners, the theater kids, the band kids, 2nd generation of immigrants and various minority ethnic groups, but outside of Koreans, most intermix constantly. I'd say this is about 60% of the student body
The bottom 10%, the nerds in the Hollywood movies, would be those who suffer from a deep socially incompetence in some form or another. They might be great students who suffer from autism, but most I would say are neckbeards, physically disabled, mediocre losers, and literal retards

I won the geography bee quite easily and the final questions during the competition were not even that hard. This was in 6th grade. Even though I went to a rich, highly ranked and massive public school in a suburb with a median income of 110,000$ near one of the largest cities, we still had latino gangs come in. They were unpunished and would harass non-CHI people just for getting in their way. Hilariously, despite speaking Spanish as a native language, they would often get bad grades in Spanish 2/3 classes.

I missed high school, I came to America when I was a little boy from a southeast Asian country, and my family moved into an almost completely white neighborhood so it was a big culture shock. I didn't even know people could have blue eyes, lol, but I loved high school, I came to like football, and lacrosse, and wrestling, I'm actually pretty good at those sports today. I was able to speak perfect English by middle school so when I went to high school, I was just like any other kid at that school except I looked different. My mom hated it when I brought girls over to my house or when I went to parties late at night, typical Asian mother, but her and my dad tried they're very best to intergrate to the society so they eventually became OK with it. I still talk to my old girlfriend from highschool the same girl I fucked with for tye first time, she's still cute....

That being said, this said public high school was in the safest town in the city which was 99.8% white, and i hung out with the private school kids for the most part. Smart people were the most popular ones in my school. Those with high grades were also usually sporty and good-looking as well. It's the same in my university/faculty now.
But we have different types of school. Basically, all the best-scoring kids go to gymnasiums (college-prep schools, there are better and worse ones within the category, as well as ones based on maths and natural sciences vs those based on languages and humanities) while all the trash went to vocational schools like technical school, hairdresser school, graphics designer school, guy-that-fixes-your-AC-school, seaman school, etc... All of these are public schools, btw.
This way, the smart kids were usually surrounded by other smart kids so bullying tends to be minimal in gymnasiums while chimp outs and attacks on teachers mostly only happen in vocational schools.

My high school experience was as some have already said. Most were from middle or lower middle class you had your preps, jocks, anime club losers - etc but there was a lot of overlap with the groups.
Most of the groups had pretty good overlap because a lot of the people could relate i.e. pretty much all the dudes on sports teams played GoW or WoW at that time (2010 graduating year) same as 09, same with class clowns or the comedic kids. If you were popular it basically meant you were universally liked by basically everyone.
There was always one or two redneck "the south with rise again" retards that were always picking fights and following always getting the shit beat out of them. I still see one of them occasionally, he grew up to be a giant piece of shit just like his dad.
You had you're rich kids too, but they were the outliar, always in drama too over something. I did end up dating one of them for two years, little strawberry redhead. But yeah, that was American high school in Maryland.

next was the christian school, my high school. here's what i, emotionally damaged with no friends, decided to do: reinvent myself. i'm gonna shut up for the first month and just watch. i'm gonna be a completely different person, just lie about everything. suddenly i was popular and had too many friends to count. literally lying made me popular as fuck. but not happy. i soon focused only on my friendships, i wanted real happiness. i made my class super close and everyone became best friends. i suddenly became more honest since i thought people liked me for who i was. but as soon as i revealed something i always wanted from middleschool, people would cringe because it would be seen as "childish", like me liking to play videogames. so i hid those. i didn't reveal myself completely to these people. these were my best years.
finally was my university, where i thought "fuck it i'm just gonna be myself, i don't care". i made friends with everybody, both the cool kids and the nerds, but guess what you'd think no one would give a shit anymore cause you're an adult, guess wrong, if you hang out with the nerds you're shunned. i stopped hanging out with the nerds once i got tired of them and realized they didn't care much for me either (cause i was popular, i guess?).
i ended up with very few friends today, i gave up on having friends. which is sad because people are what makes me happy, actually.

I went to a private school for rich kids in south Florida, cost like $30,000 a year for fucking high school (it also had a middle and elementary school). It was nice but really boring and having a personality was seen as weird so everyone was kind of a stuck up cunt.
