We have an overpopulation of them, they utterly stripped the ground bare in the woods behind our house 2 winters ago, all the English Ivy eaten too since that stays green all winter. Deer packs would come through daily. Destroying our garden too
Finally some bow hunters came and set up in the park nearby and we've had only a couple deer once and a while now. Gun shooting is illegal here but you bow hunt with a license.

Yep, very illegal to use poison and its hard to bait them, there are hundreds of hostas, english ivy, elephant ears and other things they want to eat, would be hard to poison them all. Shooting them is illegal (firing guns is illegal outside). And compound bows cost hundreds and I would have to hide it well from my weapon-hating parents.
Sometimes looking out and seeing the deer inhale a 5$ mature hosta instantly makes me want to ragequit gardening altogether.

Shooting guns outdoors in the suburban areas is illegal. Only on some parks with hunting permits can you do it, further out in rural areas
The reason is I guess bullets could ricochet or hit someone or their house and also hearing a gunshot would get a police response, but arrows are generally considered not as much of a risk and aren't a noise violation.

Basically proceeds to tell me how when he was getting divorced he had like literally 40 dollars a month to his name after mortgage, lawyers and bills.
He would kill the deer with a bow, raise them up on chains with the forklift or loader, and dress them. He then would spread out a tarp in the lunch room, cut it into 1lbs bags and put it in the freezer until he got home. Then hosed off the blood so no one would know.
It's especially funny because our maintenance yard is surrounded on 3 sides by densely-populated suburbs, so he had to be sneaky as fuck to kill deer without someone walking their dog or jogging seeing him poaching deer. There are two trails and a campground within 20 yards, and houses 50 yards on the other side.
Was literally 90% of his diet for like 6 months until the divorce was over. Had to actually live off the land to make ends meet, lol (we live in Maryland)
And the dimples in the door? He would set up targets on the door and practice archery. One time a coworker came by unexpectedly and opened the door right after he let an arrow fly, it literally went between the guys arm and body. Missed him by a cunt hair. They still laugh about it. In France we have about 1 million hunters (out of 60 millions) and they're allowed to hunt on anyone's property as long as it's smaller than 20 ha it seems.
In some areas it's limited to 150m away from houses, and also not under people's windows because of noise laws.
