Are people so stupid in your country they proudly ignore experts in political and economic issues?

England
Yes
>>
>>61279546
The older generation voted 40 years ago to join the EU I am therefore inclined to believe they made the right choice to leave given the fact that their generation has seen what your country is like in and out of the EU.
>>
>>61279586
no because they voted to join the EU when britain had extensive relations with a commonwealth.

now we'll scrambling to keep extensive relationships with europe.

the whole thing is quite farcical

But the old generation will also soon die and not get to suffer any consequences for their actions. They could have voted for UK to become part of Africa and it wouldn't have affected them in the least.

They really aren't, if you ever tried having a political discussion with one of these people you'd know they just use MUH FEELINGS as an argument.

If you hate le old people so much, maybe more than 3/10 of you should have gone out to vote, you edgy 18-24 year olds. Contrary to your facebook-tier belief, your parents and grandparents do care for you, and do know stuff. And lo and behold, markets have already started bouncing back yesterday. It's almost as if people made a hyper-reactionary move that anyone with half a brain would have expected if leave won yesterday. And the continental markets fared worse than the UK.

Stay mad Europhiles and Celtic Separatist Fantasy Enthusiasts. It's not 2014, if you want anyone to blame for the union failing, blame Germany and the migrants in 2015.

In germany the old generation of the GDR still vote communists because they want the "good ol times" back ignoring that it was literally a totalitarian shithole.

>>61283484
EVERYTHING was unclear about this, until the final moments people admitted that they had no idea what would come of it or made unfounded guesses so absurd they should be stripped of their right to vote for merely suggesting it.

As evidenced by the amount of people using google to find out what the EU even was. Do you have anything backing up your claim?

See, this is where you're wrong. Most people here know jack shit about the EU or the consequences of this decision. They voted based on their emotion and not on objective fact. It didn't help that the UK media was churning out lies and misinformation on a daily basis.
Such as important decision should not have been left to people who don't know anything about it.
>>
>>61283577
The vote was clear and people could use the internet to educate themselves about possible consequences of the UK leaving the EU.
You can never know the complete consequences of a decision, hence the need for a democratic vote such as this.
>so absurd they should be stripped of their right to vote for merely suggesting it.

As far as i know, the only thing keeping you from doing this, is your own laziness.
You have to read up on the matter yourself and create your own opinion instead of relying on the media to make up a decision for you.
And if you dont want to do that and make a decision based on what the media said, or what you divined from the flight of the birds then that is your right.
Its not a good idea, but its still your right.
>Such as important decision should not have been left to people who don't know anything about it.

Yes, people have the ability to do their own research and come to a reasonable and rational conclusion. Do most people do that? No. Remember, half of all people have an IQ of less than 100.
This is why you don't have people off the streets running the country - you elect a government that makes the decisions for you but that has the same general ideology as you.

>Except they didn't?
I dont see the problem.
Its their right not to educate themselves.
Its completely retarded not to do it, but there is no law in existance that makes stupidity illegal.
So voting without knowing anything is a completely legitimate and legal thing to do.

Yes, I agree that the referendum was legitimate and democratic and I never intended to say otherwise. However, it has resulted in the country collectively shooting itself in the foot. The ones who voted leave are the ones who are going to be squealing loudest about the consequences in the coming months, and that's because they voted on an issue that they had no idea about. In that sense, democracy has led to a bad decision for the country and has failed.

Fuck off. It's the opposite. The government has been ignoring national sentiment on the EU for too long. The EU has been ignoring the sentiment of the people forever. You can't fix things by continuing to ignore the people. They never should have signed the Maastricht or Lisbon treaties knowing that it was an irreversible decision that the people would never have consented to.

It's infinitely better that we get this done now than wait until one of the main parties is forced into coalition with UKIP - who nobody in their right mind wants to see anywhere near Westminster.
