Comfort food here means stuff you eat when you feel down and need comfort, which means stuff that makes you feel fat. Pizza, ice cream, fast food, etc. I would say grilled cheese is comfy food, which isn't really a phrase people use but includes things like gravy and corn and mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grilled cheese, etc. Basically warm staple foods.
