Last night I asked if Europeans salt their butter and learned that T*rks and German don't. What about the rest of you?

I guess salted butter is probably mostly popular in countries where it's spread on bread without cheese or cold cuts or anything

They sell both kinds here.

You can buy salted and unsalted butter here. Peanutbutter is the only butter we don' t have here. We' ve got peanut cheese instead.

I don't even remember the last time I ate butter, let alone use it
I didn't even know that salted/unsalted was a thing

The butter in Spain sucks. It's just unsalted or nasty tasteless margarine.

I use butter for 2 things only, frying eggs in it or as a foundation for strawberry jam or marmelade on my bread.

We don't even use butter that much. It's mainly margarine for breads. Butter is used in cooking/special occasions (like this time of year it is with spring potatoes).

In amerifat, it seems like the general opinion is strongly pro-salted, but I'm perplexed by this. why not get unsalted, get slightly more butter, and add salt at home if you want it? That way you have a choice if you want your butter plain and sweet with no salt or you can make it salty yourself. I don't get why mixing salt into the stick makes it so much more valuable.
