Villiers has given a big fuck you to nationalists and some unionists, and SF now have soap box to push for an All Ireland referendum from.
Government here isn't expected to last for much more than a year either.
If SF get more seats next time round it'll get very interesting, if they get the All Ireland referendum it's very likely to pass

There's also a widespread sentiment among large chunks of the leave vote that it'll be ignored by some means (something something typical politicians) and this referendum was just an opportunity to score a political point, plus the expectation that it'll force the EU/the bloody French/fucking Krauts etc. to shape up a bit and stop being so shit.
Given how much Brussels is bricking it right now and the general mood in a lot of Europe I guess it's not that unlikely really.

That's true but I think a strategy of a simultaneous All Ireland referendum would severely inflame Loyalists in the north. They're not the smartest bunch and would probably assume that the south's vote would be counted alongside theres.
I think from a nationalist perspective it would be best to let the north vote initially and depending on the outcome, then the south.
