britain's primary industry is finance

finance makes money by taking cuts of transactions, and local transactions in London are conducted in the pound

the finance industry will lose billions because pound-based transactions are now dirt cheap in the UK

We have other things. We are pumping out electrical engineers like you wouldn't believe.
>>
>>61212611
Up until some point yes.

Than it's all ogre because you get swarmed by foreign investors and loose your economical sovereignity.
>>
>>61212611
>British capitalism has increasingly turned itself into a ‘rentier’ economy, where it get its surplus value, not mainly from the production of things and services to sell at home and abroad, but increasingly from acting as a banker and investor and business advisor for other capitals overseas, and raking off a percentage in interest, rents and fees. That means the British population must import more and more goods from elsewhere to be paid for by monies ‘earned’ from financial and business services; and most important, from the willingness of foreign capitalists to put their money into banks and financial institutions in the City of London.

>So the UK runs a massive current account deficit on goods and services

>And it finances this deficit through what Bank of England governor Mark Carney called “the kindness of strangers”. By this he meant the inflow of foreign direct investment, foreigners purchase of UK government bonds and corporate stocks, and what has been called ‘hot money’, the movement of short-term cash and deposits into British banks.

>Now these ‘capital flows’ are beginning to swing from the positive to the negative too.

They've killed our NHS. It was already being starved by Tories, and the EU Migrants were paying plenty in tax to support it if it had been spent correctly.

Now we get relative pocket change back in EU membership fees, but it isn't worth shit.

Not that Nigel cares, he's completed his vendetta and his legacy is secure.

Any big change will influence the currency like that or am I wrong? No one knows what's gonna happen next, so they're all scared and pull out. Naturally everything around britain drops in value massively.

You shouldn't get to vote on things like this if you've passed the mid-point of life expectancy.
>>
>>61213548
>Old people are ignorant of the consequences

Other way around you little punk. Old people have lived long enough to see these cycles happen over and over. This is nothing new to them or particularly sensational, this is just them seeing a situation they recognize and making the right choice this time.

Honestly you shouldnt be able to vote untill you are 25 at a minumum, only then do you even start to understand the world, and its flawed at that point.

>Old people are on their pensions so they don't have to worry about an unstable economy

You've got that backwards. Young people can do odd jobs or steal food if they have to. Old people are dependent on the stability of the economy in order for those pensions to keep rolling in. If civilization ends they are fucked hardest.

Well, she did. We had industry, and she sold it all to the Chinese. This village made the best bricks in the country in the 1900s. Even today, they are still found in buildings, and tradesmen hate them. They're a nightmare to try to get through, because they are so resilient.

We don't make bricks anymore. We just look at them.

Her biggest move was shrinking the mining sector and it was a good thing. Poland has constant problems similar to those Britain faced with unprofitable mines. Unfortunately no one here has the balls to tell the miners to fuck off, so they trash the capital every once in a while.

Better that than the government paying a subsidiary for every tonne of coal they mine. Their coal is 2-3x more expensive than coal imported from the states not even mentioning the russian one.

Yes and you know what's the kicker the miners want to force the government to make it illegal to use anything but polish coal in the power plants. Guess what that means for the consumer. We seriously need someone to tell them to fuck off.

>>61214958
It's sad it's gotten this way. Britain has long struggled with lacking social mobility and class division. This is the result of their culture of class hatred. The lower classes will always turn against the establishment and distrust the more educated and experienced. It's a sad reality.
This is why we need a strong social democracy that limit class divisions, it's the only way for a society to stay sane and sensible.

The EU will accept us because it'll be a blow the UK. The UK will need to fill that hole with commonwealth people.

Next thing you know, the low-skill citizens who voted to leave because there were too many brown people are cleaning their brown bosses toilet in their own country.

What a time to be alive. :)

You will get lots of pounds, but don't spend them once you get them. Hold them as long as you can until we climb again.
