No, for real.
I like it a lot
Chalga is like Funk Carioca, but less African
>>
>>61192735
chalga is bulgarian and only bulgarian
the serb shit is called turbofolk

all others have different names, but those two are the main ones
>>
>>61192735
>liking chalga of all things
The music of selyacite(peasants) and subhuman gypsies.
>>
>>61192829
the entire country listens to chalga, it's not something that's attributed to one group

It doesnt have those connotations outside of the balkans tho, i like turbofolk music too.

Same reason why a lot of foreigners like country music but i feel disgusted when i hear it.
>>
>>61192829
>subhuman gypsies
This song is kinda catchy though, honestly

>>
>>61192826
I like chalga and the stuff they make in Serbia, like Aco Pejovic and Marina Viskovic

>>61192829
Yeah, I heard about that. It's why I said it is similar to a brazillian music style called funk carioca.
Both the lyrics and the public perception is the same.

>>61192921
I love serbia.

>the entire country listens to chalga, it's not something that's attributed to one group
There is not a single person in my family or amongst my friends that listens to this garbage.

If you want to listen to Bulgarian music there are real folk songs out there, there are the so called ''stari gradski pesni'',there are the old Bulgarian pop and rock songs.

Fucking Christ..

Turbofolk/chalga is Arabic music with Slavic lyrics. Slovenian music is German with Slavic lyrics. Croatian pop music is Greek music with Slavic lyrics.

For real?
>>
>>61193742
Yes, listen to Omar Souleyman and tell me that isn't turbofolk.
>>
>>61193683
This is actually true. Well, turbofolk/chalga actually leans to turkish a bit more, but yes, a mix of arabic too. Croatian music also has some italian mix.

what about this?
>>
>>61194029
The intro is obviously turkish/arabic sounding melody, but a little bit modernized.

But.. actual ethno music in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia is something that is it's own and unique.

I can show you a few good examples.
>>
>>61194029
You can hear elements of gypsy horn music (trubači) and of Turkish music, but also of western pop.
>>
>>61194267
Sure, go ahead.

Btw, is there a name for the weird voice thing these people do? maybe a traditional vocal trick the balkans do?
>>
Chalga comes from Çalgı which means musical instrument
>>
>>61195031
I'll give you quite a few of Bosniak traditional ethnic songs. Maybe a few Serb ones too. Brb.

Arabic/Turkic music has developed under Byzantine influence, though. It's not all full-on Islamic.

Well, if you're interested, Dalmatia has the "klapa" genre, but it has more of a Mediterranean sounds than a Balkanic one. Traditionally, it's sung by a group of men with little or no instruments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd8URBPcywQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJaeM4EvesE

There's some fun folk songs in the North as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb27-xPdej8

Just in case you're looking for more than just the Eastern-sounding Balkan pop.

Old Yugoslav rock is a goldmine with folk elements, as well.

This type of music is called "Sevdalinka". It's native to Bosnia and the Bosniak people.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIN0AG0BPTc

There are plenty more of these. Some of the ones I listed above are songs that have been passed down the generations in Bosnia for centuries, some are newer but still pretty old.
>>
>>61193516
>real folk songs
I really like these.

>>61196029
Now there are newer compositions, not exactly sevdalinka, but you know. Still ethno music of Bosnia.

It is not even arabic. It is Ottoman music which came from Byzantium which preceeds arabs in the empire
>>
>>61195031
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WBLXP6_UG8
This is also good.
>>
>>61196011
True, but you're forgetting that Byzantians today are Anadolian Turks. Same people basically.

Do you know this song?

>>61196707
Oh, this one has a lot of the elements I love about these styles..
>>
>>61196794
So not arabs
>>
>>61196823
Ehh, every music style has at least a little influence from another culture. Every single music style, so yes, a bit of arabic too, habibi.
