I've a question for americans.
Tell me about your modern generation. I'm not talking about kids. More like ppl ~20+- y.o.
How do they see this world? What they're interested in? How do they see politics, economic things and shiet? What about lifestyle?

Extremely polarized

The ones who aren't always angry are pretty solidly left, bernie types

The ones who are always angry are pretty far right, trump, gas-all-muslims types

Really depends where you are, the more southern/uneducated you get the more of the angry types you get

They're politically center-left, in a lot of debt, consume almost as much junk food as they do pop culture (but nonetheless believe "their" pop culture is different from that of everyone else's), sedentary lifestyle with boring office job likely unchanged since first graduating, live in soulless suburb and get everywhere by car, but are nonetheless fundamentally good people who want the same things you and I want: a family, financial independence, respect.

Think of the south as full of bydlos, uneducated working classes who vote right wing, except here they're rednecks

The West Coast and the Northeast are the opposite of this, generally more educated/wealthier and tend to vote more left. Most places outside of cities or just generally populated areas are more right-wing and uneducated. There are some exceptions in redneck states like the city of Austin, but the state of Texas itself is very right wing.
>>
Statements which suggest a fair balance between polarized left/right politics among millennials, besides being misleading (a single spectrum has no depth), isn't accurate. Most millennials are to the left on social issues compared to national averages.

Anyone who tells you that the far-right have significant support among millennials are drawing from experiences of 4chan, which is a terrible sample. It's just the opposite. The far-left is easily dominant.
Not saying they'll be as liberal forever, but they are today.
>>
>>61187172
Oh, by southern you mean those like.. classic Texan guy?
>muh southern accent
>muh mechanic
>muh fields with crops
Actually, they're seems pretty noice people to me.
Dunno about their political views but, they are working ppl. I think that should be respected.
_
Btw, what about.. "rebellion soul" in americans? Modern ppl have it? They to fight with system (stereotypical shit but you've understand me I suppose)?
>>
Millennials are people born between 1980 and 2000. They are NOT people born after 2000 as some mongoloids on this website think.
>>
20 year old college student.

Really varies. Trump and Bernie supporters are memes that some people fall under, but there are so many more who don't care/neutral/other.

Many I've met have a strong sense of optimism about the world. We had a debate about environmentalism and a lot of them beloved recycling and giving more money to the epa could stop things, totally naive of many other problems like overfishing.

Honestly, they're like most young people of every generation ever, and get the same shit all past generations got. However, if you want some unique identifiers, a lot of them rely on their phones too much in public spaces, they are progressive-- even many ardent conservatives I know think gays should do whatever the fuck they want, many are struggling because of high costs of living and stagnant wage-- leading to many staying at home, women are overtaking men in college.

They can be stereotyped just like any group, but meeting other young people day after day in college makes me realize they're all a bit different. The "Normies" that work and then drink and party as a pastime are the largest bloc of people
>>
>>61187394
Ehh yes and no, Texan and Southern are similar but different, Texans are certainly conservative but aren't as....dirty as southerners. Think of the south as mullets (nobody actually has these anymore but stick with me), fishing, doing dumb shit on ATVs, drinking cheap beer and fucking their cousins while complaining about "them niggers" and "them MUDSLIMES"

It's how a lot of Americans here act

>Btw, what about.. "rebellion soul" in americans? Modern ppl have it? They to fight with system (stereotypical shit but you've understand me I suppose)?

Dated concept that only rednecks think is still a thing, they benefit from many government programs but will always go on about how "the feds are evil" or some shit even though right-wing states get the most government aid, and certainly need it considering they're the poorest

The more rich and successful you are, the less you'll have that "rebellion spirit"
>>
>>61187355
Interesting. Can you explain how do you guys see leftism and rightism in USA?
Cause I feel that our visions are different.
>>
>>61186720
You just described all of America. Like, scarily accurate.
>>
>>61187650
There are key differences between "Left" and "Right" in the US and the same terms in Europe. This gets back to my previous statement that a single spectrum has no depth.

As an example:
There's a strong spirit of independence in the US. Pity is (or was) denigrated. Agency is king. Hence, our Right isn't nearly as big on entitlements as their Euro counterparts. To be right-wing in the US means to tell the bums to get a job. But in Europe, even many on the Right are willing to keep, or even expand the Welfare State.

It's more complicated, and using the terms "Left" and "Right" internationally confuses people.
>>
>>61187650
being russian you probably see leftism as communism so I can understand animosity towards it

boiled down to its most simple terms: left = stronger central government and right = weaker central government, stronger state governments (in theory, republicans are very hypocritical about this regarding many things like net neutrality, etc)

leftists want things like social safety nets, liberal spending policies, social and economic equality whereas right wingers have a more "do it yourself, pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality about things, no help from the government because they don't want to pay taxes even though most of them are poor as shit and would benefit way more by voting democrat.

There's a quote that I think Steinbeck said - "Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires."

What he means is that many poor republicans see themselves as one good job opportunity away from being super rich and successful millionaires, when in reality they never had much of a chance from the start and due to their lack of education are just an exploited group of idiots

>>61187547
>but meeting other young people day after day in college makes me realize they're all a bit different
I know, it's kinda stupid question "describe your ppl pls".
Many of them can be really snowflakes on the background of most other ppl.
But thanks for the answer!
>>61188029
>To be right-wing in the US means to tell the bums to get a job
>>61188046
>being russian you probably see leftism as communism
Yes, that's the thing. Being communist here is literally the same shit with
> tell the bums to get a job
and stop crying about your life because it's your own, only you can make it better with your own hands.
>leftists want things like social safety nets
And that's the part of communism here but definitely not
>liberal spending policies
As I said, we've got different vision. Because our communism have your left and right parts as well.
Huh. Now I see.. You're really more polarized than we are.
It's like better or worse. We're both just see this world differently. Probably that's the thing why can't be just friends, we need to fight each other instead.
Also, thanks for the answers. I really like that discussion.

>your modern generation
The only thing I can say is the most competent ppl in our generation are Asian and East European immigrants and their kids because they don't spend energy on political agenda (regardless of it being left or right) and only focus on getting $$ or immigrating legally if they havent acquired green card yet.
As a former student from an Ivy tier college, only a few American students who are like traditionally considered Americans are competent because they put too much attention on some random issues than their success and ppl who immigrated or 2nd generation perform much better as they are more focused to get lots of $$ in future
Funny thing is Jewish ppl are exception. They somehow manage to become successful even after generation and generation. They know what really matters is focusing on their own goals than spending too much time on social issues/justice/something whatever you call it

>mfw both pol and pol haters will hate this post
>>
>>61186209

I'm in my 30s and considered a millennial

The people I've met and worked with who are in the 19-24 age right now are the most desensitized, selfish, and dense people there are. The older generation might get some flack for being oblivious, but at least they were empathetic. These kids now a days are just hateful, not rebellious, hateful.
>>
>>61189223
OP, this is what I'm talking about when I said

>It's how a lot of Americans here act
>>
>>61189206
Yes I did, a handful of people who may or may not even describe themselves as leftists, people who just hate Trump, does not make the left "violent" or whatever you're trying to describe it as

Sorry trump supporters can't handle protestors I guess, I love seeing them get bloodied up, kinda funny
>>
>>61189223
Also, if you actually think it's rednecks behind the science and space exploration projects in texas I've got some bad news for you: it's "leftists" who moved from the west coast and northeast for jobs there

keep picking my corn though, you stupid worthless replaceable faggot
>>
>>61189882
Get some cash.. Well, that seems logical for foreigners. They're more competent because of their goal.
Other ones (americans) already have family and some kind of social success, so they can spend their time for
>social issues/justice/something
And that's the culture. No matter how stupid/whatever it is.
>>61190046
>These kids now a days are just hateful, not rebellious, hateful.
Why they're like this? How do you think?
>>
>>61190474
>Why they're like this? How do you think?

They grew up on the internet, they became desensitized to everything, became unsociable, hate became a funny joke and then it became how they actually lived their lives

And obviously 4chan is the best example possible of this, most people here are 18-25 and have EXTREMELY fucking regressive and hateful views
>>
>>61190550
>internet
>hate
That's makes sense. But what about normies? Well, I don't mean those "alpha" ppl that getting laid and partying 24/7. Just reglar normal ppl without internet illness. They're even exist?

>>
>>61190474
>that's the culture
Well American culture is basically capitalism and $$ 2bh. Funny its immigrants who are understanding it better.
Idk. I am an immigrant myself so my opinion can be biased but I can see those immigrant 'millennials' kicking out American i.e. actual millennials from job markets as they are willing to work more time with lower wage to get their H1b visa and even when they dont work with lower wage they and their kids tend to me much more eager to get better education in STEM than their American counterparts so that they can get well paying jobs
Protip: immigrants in the sentence dont mean the ppl who cross border; it means Asians or East Europeans
>>
>>61190702

I genuinely wish the white genocide was real.
>>
>>61190700
"normies" isn't a one size fits all thing, "normies" down south generally hold the same hateful and regressive views as the children here whereas "normies" on the west coast are essentially the opposite
>>
>>61190755
Got it. Thanks!
>>61191026
So, it seems like problem of education?
>>
>>61191197
yes

the less educated you are, the more likely you'll be poor, which means you're more likely to be stupid, which means you're more likely to make stupid, poorly thought out and uninformed decisions, which leads to things like being a trump supporter or someone with racist tendencies, etc
>>
>>61191026
I've met plenty of educated people that don't like non-whites. It's not a matter of education, it's a matter of whether or not you live around non-whites. That's why a lot of people in the South dislike them and why a lot of people in cities like Chicago and New York don't like them either.
>>
>>61191322

does a lack of education not correlate with poverty? does poverty not correlate with stupidity? does stupidity not correlate with simple minded reactions to things?

It actually doesn't. Most scientists agree that IQ is mostly hereditary, not due to being poor. Keep acting like you have everything figured out though.
