Is Adolf common name in your country?
I heard of a man in Ireland named Adolf MacNamara or something similar many years ago. He moved to America and decided to change his name to fit in better. He changed it to Adolf Smith. Now no one would know he was Irish.

My granddad was named Adolf. But he passed away 3 years ago when he was 97. So I guess that Adolf isn't even that popular in Germany anymore.

Yeah, it's not rare amongst middle-aged/old people. If it's in Catalan it's "Adolf". In Spanish it's "Adolfo"
Here we have an half-white actor or director (don't remember which one) who his last name is Hitler. I'm not even kidding. Too bad he is too unpopular to be relevant. Not sure what happen to him now. Probably stopped being actor.

In Germany, they actually mostly changed their name after WWII (e.g. to "Hiller").
