why is it so hard for foreigners to do the 'th' (dental fricative) sound? i mean i get that its a new/somewhatkindasortofnotreally unique sound to english (i know other languages have it too [some dialects of spanish, i think greek (?), welsh, icelandic etc...]) but in my opinion its a much easier sound to make than the rolled R, of which i still cant do. You put your tongue right below your front teeth and blow out... its not that hard
what makes it hard? is it the fact that doing it in the middle of a sentence throws you off?
try pronouncing this, non-natives: there are three things thrashing about over there behind the threshold.

No, it's F
"medh" sounds less like "meth" than "mefh"

I don't know that it's really difficult for them, I'm sure they could get it down with some practice. It's just hard to do consistently. Like with rolled "r"s, you can probably pronounce it alone, but with a somewhat tricky word (say, comprarlas) you settle for a sound you can make.

The main problem for most people isn't producing the TH sounds, but telling them apart from F/V or S/Z depending on the language. Or even D depending on accent.
Also, certain consonant clusters with them are tricky due to tongue position. THR in special.
The rolled R is tricky too.

>F doesnt make any sense.
Yes, it does, both sound apart from S (too common) and are frontal.

Even some native speakers do it - Cockney.

But comprarlas doesn't use the rolled R, it uses the tap.
And since rolled R in Spanish is found only at word beginning and between vowels (spelled as RR), you can't even have it followed by L.
