The problem is America is so massive so it takes time and gas money. I live in Michigan, and traveling my state takes a full tank of gas (about $30) and 6-7 hours to get from where I live in the lower peninsula to the upper peninsula. On top of the cost of travel, you also have to pay for lodging if you want to stay in a hotel, or you could just camp, but that's harder during winter/hot summer days. Europeans seem to have difficulty understanding that you can't take a day trip from New York to Florida.

Most people don't go out of state every month unless its for business or they really like to travel. If you plan on spending time in another state/going to a far away state you have to plan, you need to make sure you know where your staying and how to get there. West Virginia is possibly the most beautiful state in the union, and there's so much to do there--water ski, gamble, hike, fish. I live in a suburb outside D.C. and have traveled there a lot to explore their mountains and scenery. Some of the Appalachian people are off-putting and downright stupid, but they have a unique and valuable culture and identity. Americans tend to like every foreigner/immigrant except for Muslims. Hell, for the last few years until the start of 2016 the governors of Louisiana and South Carolina were both Indian-(Poo in Loo, not Native)-Americans. We might tell stereotypical German, French, Irish, English, or Polish jokes but they're totally in good fun, have no ill will behind them, and almost everyone has absolutely zero problem with anyone from Europe, you're all our favorite foreigners since must of us are of European descent.

I wish there wasn't so many run down spots in Rapid City, the town doesn't deserve those. The scenery is amazing and beats east river by a lot.
Still, I guess we got a couple nice spots, and hills so it's not so flat. Plus it's really pretty watching a Licht rain on the fields.
