I think it has to do with
1. Being overshadowed. I mean, UK almost touches motherfucking France. And NO, French cuisine is NOT overrated.
2. Breakfast-based culture instead of lunch-based culture. Dishes are simpler, since one simply does not wake up 4AM to cook, c'mon.
That said. Hashbrowns, pumpkin pie, chippy and most Dixie stuff as gumbo.

It's up to personal tastes, but I'll have a good boeuf bourguignon over both tbqh. Escargot is nice because of the texture, the taste is mainly from garlic and butter.

We're too close to Italy to be able to invent such odd ways of consuming pasta. Pasta (and risotto) only entered Slovenian households in the 1960s, and our recipes for it tend to be straight out of Italian cookbooks.

I think it has to do with geographic location, agricultural possibilities and the ingredients available. That is an answer for Britain's case.
As for the other Anglo countries, you notice all of them are fairly new colonist states that didn't have enough time to develop their own food culture, or maybe it would be more accurate to say that before it could start, the food industry happened and killed everything in its path.
